I think I would have looked at you very strangely, if you’d told me at the start of the year, that the two best plays would be made by Blaze Alexander in the outfield, and Ryne Nelson at the plate. Yet, here we are, with the results of the first SnakePit award of the season […]
Since taking over in DC, Paul Toboni has slowly been assembling a staff. He hired Blake Butera to be the manager, Michael Johns to be the bench coach and Simon Mathews to be the pitching coach. Toboni has also filled a number of other organizational positions. However, one role he has not filled yet is […]
The Arizona Cardinals already seem outmatched against the Los Angeles Rams. Arizona is 3-9 and set to face the Rams who is striving for first place in the NFC conference. The uphill battle grew even more steep ahead of the contest, as the Cardinals ruled out at least nine players: Two more are questionable in […]
The Winter Meetings start today. Which means we should get some rumours and news to talk about. Right now? Well, we know Dylan Cease’s jersey number will be 84, the first 84 in Jays history. And we know that Kyle Tucker visited the Jays’ spring training facilities. Yes, so did Ohtani. Hopefully, the Jays didn’t […]
Lane Kiffin’s first defensive staff at LSU is complete. Elijah Robinson has indeed been hired at LSU as the Tigers’ newest defensive line coach. Robinson was in Baton Rouge on Friday, which included him being at the LSU Football Ops building. FootballScoop was the first to report the news, and terms of the deal are […]
Last week, we learned of the major (and mostly negative/financially pessimistic) changes coming to Marquee Sports Network here at the end of 2025.
In short, the Region Sports Network, co-owned by the Cubs and Sinclair Broadcast Group, announced its plans to scale back across the organization in a series of cost-saving endeavors. There’s a lot more to it than this, but among the immediate, front-facing fallout was the firings of content director Tony Andracki and reporter Andy Martinez.

After the New Orleans Saints’ game in Week 13, the draft position had some movement due to their loss to the Miami Dolphins. Still, in the end, the Saints went right back to pick #3 overall after the New York Giants’ loss. In this edition, I will look at some potential trade back options from […]
Newcastle United have already begun assembling a defined shortlist for the January and summer transfer windows, with several names discussed internally as the club continues their long-term squad build. The Athletic’s Chris Waugh has doubled down on the reports linking AZ Alkmaar midfielder Kees Smit to Newcastle as the Magpies’ standout target, with NUFC having […]
The Chicago White Sox have grabbed a lot of attention over the past couple of Winter Meetings. They likely will not be getting much notice at this year’s gathering in Orlando. After all, the club does not have the elite pitchers to deal like it had in 2023 with Dylan Cease or in 2024 with […]
The hot stove has remained cool for the Phillies, so I’ll take another look at a player who has been rumored to be available on the trade market and analyze if he is someone the Phillies should pursue. Sandy Alcantara The background Sandy Alcantara was signed as an international free agent out of the Dominican […]

Well, this was a strange one. I’m glad it took me a few minutes to click publish, because the initial news of the Cubs signing free agent starting pitcher Zac Gallen ( from Bob Nightengale , who has since edited his initial post on X) was shot down almost immediately ( from Jeff Passan and others ).
Still, after yesterday’s news that the Cubs were looking at Zac Gallen , and the specifics from Nightengale, I do believe there’s probably something here.
Zac Gallen to the Chicago Cubs? ...

Tomorrow night, we’ll find out the results of the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Contemporary Era ballot. The ballot is an opportunity for the Hall to reconsider the cases of players whose primary contributions came from 1980 onwards and who failed to reach induction through the standard Baseball Writers of American balloting process. Eight players […]
The next player to be featured in our 2025 Athletics Season in Review is 23-year-old righty Luis Morales. Morales made his big-league debut this year with the A’s and looks like a future standout for the team. How was he acquired? Luis Morales was born in Antilla, Cuba and grew in talent and promise while […]
It is rare that a player acknowledges a desire to be playing somewhere other than his own team, even in retrospect. But that’s exactly what happened with Gregory Soto. Soto acknowledged wanting to pitch to his best abilities when facing the Mets as a member of the Orioles so that he could showcase his talents […]
It was the first full-season in the big leagues for the now -31-year-old outfielder, as Eli White found a role as a reserve outfielder and took advantage of his playing time for a solid all-around season with the Atlanta Braves. How acquired Atlanta traded for White on January 3, 2023 after the Texas Rangers had […]
It was a very messy start for the Blues, and Bournemouth had the ball in the back of the net in short order. Thankfully, Evanilson was leaning offside and thus Semenyo’s goal was ruled out. Chelsea didn’t settle right away and the home side continued to threaten. Eventually, we grew into the game and started […]

Kyle Hurt has been on the cusp of getting some sort of run in the majors with the Dodgers, but sadly nominative determinism has spoiled most of the last two seasons. The right-hander out of USC, who came to the Dodgers along with Alex Vesia in the 2021 trade of Dylan Floro to the Marlins, […]
It’s a challenging task to find a player who, in a very specific way, better represents the evolution of baseball, and particularly pitching, than Edgardo Henriquez. Not so long ago, a pitcher with his natural abilities would be seen as the jewel in the crown of a bullpen and someone whose production or lack thereof […]
Here we have three easily recognizable Cubs: Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez and Jacque Jones. It appears to be (and I found that it was) after the fourth player, the only one whose face we can see, has hit a grand slam at Wrigley Field. Here’s the full photo, another one sent to me by BCB […]
Good morning, LSB. Jeff Wilson writes that the Rangers’ offseason plan focuses on external priorities and internal improvements. MLB Pipeline offers up a Rule 5 candidate for every team. Aaaaand that appears to be about all there is this morning. Have a good weekend!
