Weekly Playoff Thread – 5/4

Welcome to the Playoff Thread for the games in the week of 5/4. Well we’re into Round Two now with plenty of interesting match ups. Still many former Predators left in the mix. Who are you bandwagoning? Have you all seen the Captain giving piggy back rides while telling his kids they have to eat their broccoli? Then Ellie saying this is normal life. Don’t blink during the commercials. Just a reminder – we’re always looking for new people to chat with and to be part of our co...

Predators Projected to Make Stunning Move With Marchessault

The Nashville Predators haven't yet decided on a new general manager, but that hasn't stopped the speculation around the future of the team's roster.  One of the more disgruntled charges around the team after another non-playoff finish was veteran Jonathan Marchessault. Eric Dougherty of The Tennessean has projected that the Predators' new GM, whoemever that might be, could decide to make a stunning move with the former Conn Smythe trophy winner. He sees a buyout coming.  The tension...

Oilers assistant GM Bill Scott to interview for vacant Canucks GM role

Edmonton Oilers assistant general manager Bill Scott is a busy man these days. As the Oilers battle with the Anaheim Ducks in the first round of the 2026 playoffs, Scott is now set to interview with a second team for a vacant general manager’s seat. His first came in late March with the Nashville Predators,…

NHL Rumors: 3 Free-Agent Destinations for Predators' Erik Haula

Nashville Predators forward Erik Haula should generate some interest this offseason if he decides to test the free-agent market. The 35-year-old forward had a solid 2025-26 season with the Predators, as he recorded 14 goals, 24 assists, and 38 points in 81 games. With numbers like these, he showed that he can still provide decent offensive production. Because of this, let's take a look at three teams that could look to sign Haula if he tests free agency.  Winnipeg Jets  The Jets coul...

Steven Stamkos Reveals Big Development for Predators' Future

The Nashville Predators came up short in their chase for a playoff spot this season, their second straight year missing out on the dance after the huge free agent influx of big names like Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei.  The franchise is now in the throes of a search for a new general manager. But while many observers expect big changes to come with that in order to remake the team, Stamkos has revealed that he doesn't think that's the case.  The message was th...

2 Predators GM Candidates Eliminated; 4 Others Are Still Frontrunners

The New Jersey Devils have hired a new GM; The Toronto Maple Leafs are considering bringing a couple of franchise greats back into the fold in advisory roles; and the Nashville Predators' search for a new general manager is also reaching the final stages.  Insider Frank Seravalli gives us a detailed breakdown on Monday of where things stand. He says that the Preds have eliminated two candidates, telling their two assistant GMs, Jeff Kealty and Scott Nichol, that they are no longer under c...

Sharks at Predators game 80: Lines, game thread and how to watch

We’re in the home stretch, folks, and with three games left in the season, the Sharks wrap things up on the road. While still not “officially” out of the playoff race, it’s out of the Sharks’ hands. San Jose would have to win out AND there would have to be a major collapse by the teams in front of the Sharks for San Jose to make the playoffs. So, we’re watching the Tankathon standings again. That means this matchup with the Nashville Predators has a much different meaning than it did a week or...

Weekly Game Day Thread – 4/13

Welcome to the Game Day Thread for the games in the week of 4/13. Well, here we are at the last week of the regular season. The Predators need to win out and hope that LA can’t win two out of their three remaining (unlikely). I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Just a reminder – we’re always looking for new people to chat with and to be part of our community. Feel free to share the link to our thread with potential new members! Games this week are: Monday 4/13 vs San Jose Sharks 7...

Today In NHL History - Patrick Eaves Shootout Miss

On March 27th in 2010, former first round draft pick Patrick Eaves of the Detroit Red Wings tripped and fell during a 9th round shootout attempt against netminder Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators. Even Eaves enjoyed a laugh about the gaffe afterward the game. The Red Wings eventually sealed a 1-0 shootout win over the Predators that night on the strength of Niklas Kronwall's 11th round

No One Should Be Surprised

With the Nashville Predators and the Los Angeles Kings winning their respective games today, the Winnipeg Jets needed the same result in their game against the Philadelphia Flyers if they wanted any legitimate chance at making the playoffs. Mathematically, the Jets wouldn't be eliminated from the race, but the required wins and losses to get in are at their maximums after tonight's woeful, uninspired 7-1 hammering at the hands of the Flyers. For a team that needed to be at its best to make the...

Vancouver Canucks Exec Linked to Minnesota Wild

After this disastrous season for the Vancouver Canucks, there will be plenty of changes. Both on the ice and off it. In particular, the futures of general manager Patrik Allvin and head coach Adam Foote are in doubt .  There is some intrigue around Allvin's situation. He is thought of highly around the organization, but so is assistant GM Ryan Johnson. And coincidentally, it's been reported that the Canucks turned down a request from the Nashville Predators to speak with Johnson ab...

Oilers assistant general manager Bill Scott seen as the favourite to become new Predators general manager

The Edmonton Oilers may need to look for a new assistant general manager this offseason. Appearing on Oilers Now (10:39 mark) on Wednesday evening, NHL insider Frank Seravalli reported that Oilers assistant general manager Bill Scott is a strong candidate to fill the Nashville Predators’ soon-to-be-vacant general manager role. Some even consider him the favourite….

A Change At The Top

If anyone wanted a job working in hockey, this might be the year that jobs can be had. We already know the Nashville Predators are hunting for a general manager to replace the outgoing Barry Trotz, the Toronto Maple Leafs need someone for their general manager position, and the New Jersey Devils are looking for someone for their GM office as well. As of today after another somewhat shocking announcement, there's another high-ranking hockey job that will be available at the end of the season, s...

Predators Rejected In Bid To Speak with Canadian Team's Executive for GM Role

The Nashville Predators continue their search for a new general manager. But one of the candidates they had hoped to interview is off limits. The Vancouver Canucks have rejected a bid by the Preds to speak with their assistant GM and current GM of the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks, Ryan Johnson. What changes are coming in Vancouver? Everything is fluid. 1 thing I was told is the Canucks denied Nashville permission to talk with Abbotsford Canucks GM Ryan Johnson. We will have more on the show. @Donn...

GM #78: Winnipeg Jets @ St. Louis Blues

I know that this game preview is a day early, as the Winnipeg Jets do not play until Thursday….but I have a bunch of teleconferences scheduled for tomorrow, so thought I would get it done while I have time. In Tuesday’s NHL action, neither the St. Louis Blues nor Seattle Kraken used their game in hand on Winnipeg to gain points, as both dropped their contests to stay behind the Jets in the standings. The Nashville Predators did win their match, so they now have a 4 pt advantage on the Tru...

GM #77: Seattle Kraken @ Winnipeg Jets

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Easter long weekend…I certainly am happy that I used a few holiday days to stretch it to a full 7 days without doing my day job. Moving on to look at the Western Conference’s wildcard race before action gets underway on Monday. The Winnipeg Jets are currently 3 points behind the Nashville Predators & Los Angeles Kings, who are tied for the 8th and final spot. The San Jose Sharks are only 2 points back of those clubs and 1 up on the Jets, while the St. Loui...

Sharks’ Comeback Falls Apart in 6-3 Loss to Predators

Alexander Wennberg’s third-period equalizer felt like a turning point. After erasing a three-goal deficit, the San Jose Sharks had life, energy, and belief. But against a playoff-caliber Nashville Predators team, it slipped away just as quickly in a 6-3 loss Saturday night at SAP Center. The San Jose Sharks fell to the Nashville predators 6-3 Saturday night at the SAP Center after a four game win streak. San Jose has yet to beat Nashville since 2019, and this game was another taste of wha...

3 Offseason Trade Destinations for Predators' Roman Josi

Following the 2026 NHL trade deadline, Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi was brought up as a potential dark-horse offseason trade candidate by The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun . If the Predators end up embracing a rebuild and making Josi available, there is no question that he would generate a ton of interest. Due to this, let's look at three teams that could pursue Josi if he is made available during the offseason.  Detroit Red Wings  The Red Wings are struggling to take that ne...

Predators' Request to Interview Top GM Turned Down; 4 Other Candidates Revealed

The Nashville Predators began their search for a new General Manager earlier this season when Barry Trotz announced he'd be stepping down. He and the front office are continuing their search, and word is they've tried to poach one of the most forward-thinking GMs in hockey.  Only problem is, his current employers aren't interested in letting him go. Elliotte Friedman explains on Hockey Night in Canada: The Carolina Hurricanes wouldn't talk about it today, but I'm under the understanding.....

Predators at Sharks game 75: Lines, game thread and how to watch

In the grand scheme of games and the San Jose Sharks’ playoff hopes, this one is huge. The Sharks play host to the Nashville Predators tonight and this one has massive playoff implications. The Sharks and the Predators are tied with 79 points apiece and are fighting it out for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference. This is the second of three meetings between the two teams, which means there is plenty of opportunity for animosity to build up. The last time these two teams met, th...

3 Offseason Trade Destinations for Predators' Jonathan Marchessault

The fit between Jonathan Marchessault and the Nashville Predators has simply not been there. Because of this, the 35-year-old forward has been a trade candidate for quite some time now. Due to this, let's look at three teams that could try to land Marchessault this offseason. New Jersey Devils  The Devils need another skilled winger in their top six, and it would not be particularly surprising if they pursued Marchessault this offseason because of it. The Devils have been connected to him...

3 Offseason Trade Destinations For Predators' Steven Stamkos

Nashville Predators forward Steven Stamkos was a popular name in the rumor mill leading up to the 2026 NHL trade deadline. The 36-year-old forward generated interest, but Nashville, of course, chose to keep him around.  However, with the Predators in a retool, Stamkos will be a trade candidate to watch during the summer. Because of this, let's look at three teams that could look to acquire Stamkos this offseason if he is made available. New Jersey Devils  It has been an incredibly di...

NHL Rumors: 3 Seattle Kraken Offseason Trade Candidates

The Seattle Kraken have been trending in the wrong direction as of late. After losing seven out of their last 10 games, the Kraken are now three points behind the Los Angeles Kings for the final wild card spot in the Western Conference. They are also behind the San Jose Sharks, Nashville Predators, and Winnipeg Jets. If the Kraken end up missing the playoffs again, they very well could end up making some changes to their roster this offseason. Because of this, let's look at three Kraken offsea...

The unfortunate inevitability of sports

I had fully intended to write a post about the departure of Steven Stamkos.  I dated it in July of 2024, shortly after he’d been traded to the Nashville Predators.  I shelved it, not only because it hurt but because Continue reading The unfortunate inevitability of sports →
