Weekly Summer Thread – 6/22

Welcome to the Summer Thread for the week of 6/22. Times are beginning to get interesting. The Carolina Hurricanes had their parade. Many Caniacs lined the streets and parking garages of downtown Raleigh. I wonder if our visiting Caniac was there? The Tkachuk brothers are going to be reunited in Florida and Ottowa got a large number of high picks in return. The NHL draft begins Friday. Everyone has seemed to predict a different selection for the Predators. Fingers crossed...

So much for summer being a quiet period in the NHL, eh? On what would normally be a sleepy June weekend in hockey circles, we had trades, contract extensions, you name it. None of it involved the Bruins in any way, but that’s OK. Let’s recap: Florida swings big (again) Unsatisfied with a year on […]

7 hidden gems the Flyers could target in the 2026 NHL Draft

The NHL Draft is great for finding the cornerstones of your franchise and the future stars of your team at the very tippy top of it. Nailing down those top five picks to set your team up for many years of future success with a very good player leading it. All of that is great, but what might be even more exciting is taking advantage of other teams not really knowing just how good that smaller kid in Norway can be, or how there’s this underscouted team in the MHL and this guy you take in the si...

New York Jets Flight Connections 06/22/26

Good morning Gang Green Nation! Well, that didn’t last long. Hopes for a drama-free break before training camp begins evaporated overnight when Geno Smith was accused of assault of a woman and neglect of his child in an Instagram post by a woman tentatively identified as Kristen Stubbs. At the moment these are just unsubstantiated […]

Lightning Morning News: Division rival makes a big move while a potential free agent target stays put

The week before the NHL Draft has kicked off with a flurry of activity. After the Tampa Bay Lightning started things on Friday by pulling off a sign-and-trade with Toronto, their down-state rival ended the weekend with a blockbuster deal of their own. It started innocently enough as they sent Mackie Samoskevich to Seattle for the 25th pick in the first round (originally the Lightning’s) and a second-round pick in 2027. Armed with two first-round picks, it was almost certain that the Panth...
