In the final game before the Christmas break and in a second half of a back-to-back, the Flyers went into Chicago and came away with a wire-to-wire 3-1 victory over the Blackhawks. At the tail end of a brutal condensed schedule where the Flyers played 10 games in 17 days, the Flyers now head into the holiday break with the second highest points percentage in the East.

It’s still a little weird seeing Karl-Anthony Towns in another team’s uniform. On the night before Christmas Eve, the Minnesota Timberwolves took on Towns and the New York Knicks in a game that was far less emotional than last year’s game between these two teams in Minnesota. While Towns has settled in with his new […]

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Minnesota Vikings have claimed recently waived Indianapolis Colts backup quarterback Brett Rypien off waivers, with starter J.J. McCarthy (hand) already out this week: Before this past Monday’s primetime game, the Colts waived Rypien, who had previously been signed to the active roster a week prior to serve as […]

The first period of this game was a dump and chase drill. The teams combined to put ten shots on net (6-4 in favor of the Flyers). Philly’s second shot didn’t happen until 10:17 had come off the clock. Unfortunately, it went in. The Blackhawks had a 7-3 advantage in scoring chances in the first period at 5-on-5 , but were chasing one after one.
The Blackhawks and Flyers really made it feel like both teams have three days off after this game in the second period… until the Flyers amazingly...

The lack of offense from this team is completely unacceptable. The New Jersey Devils lost 2-1 to the New York Islanders on Long Island tonight. The game was tied 1-1 until about a minute left in the third period, until Adam Pelech scored a backbreaking goal off a broken play to snatch at least a […]

Just two days before Christmas, the slumping Bruins delivered a heaping helping of coal in your stocking. The B’s allowed four Montreal goals in the third period en route to a convincing 6-2 loss, the fourth in a row for the home team. It was a 2-2 game at the start of the third period, […]

First period
The game begins with Josh Anderson and Tanner Jeannot squaring up at centre ice. We have our tone for this game. Precisely the one the Bruins wanted.
Phillip Danault continues the shift with Brendan Gallagher in Anderson’s place and they help draw a holding call when Alexandre Texier is grabbed behind the net.
Lane Hutson attempts a pass across the top of the zone, and it leads to a two-on-one from the two Bruins forwards you don’t want to allow one to. Jacob Fowl...

Looking to go into the holiday break on a positive note after two gut-wrenching losses in Florida last weekend, the Carolina Hurricanes laid another egg in Raleigh on Tuesday, falling 5-2 to the Florida Panthers after one of the more dismal periods of hockey the team has played under Rod Brind’Amour. Just as they did […]

Coming off the firing of an assistant coach and sitting last in the Eastern Conference after losing three straight/five of their previous six, the Maple Leafs’ pre-Christmas break matchup against the Penguins felt more significant than the typical game #36 on the NHL schedule. The Minnesota Vikings won an ugly 16-13 affair in the swamps of Jersey against the New York Giants to improve to 7-8 on the season. Another injury to J.J. The San Jose Sharks take a brief trip to Vegas before they go their separate ways for the holiday break. San Jose has lost two games in a row and is desperate to avoid a third. So far, the team has been pretty good about keeping the losing streaks short, but this might be the toughest test yet, going against the Vegas Golden Knights, which is ranked second in the Pacific Division as of this morning.
The Sharks should have an extra incentive not to let Vegas win tonight. Carter Hart is exp...

Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin made an appearance on Amazon Prime's intermission panel this week, and told the crew that his team is undergoing what he calls a 'hybrid retool.' What that really means is, from all accounts, don't expect a mass sell-off. In particular, 12 players are likely going nowhere. Allvin said the Quinn Hughes trade with Minnesota brought them young players who are pieces for the future, but, essentially, ready to contribute now. Canucks GM Patrik Allvin jo...
