Are the Rockets too reliant on Fred VanVleet?

If, and, but. Three of the most aggravating words in the English language. If the Houston Rockets had known Fred VanVleet would get injured, they wouldn’t have traded for Kevin Durant. That’s the scuttlebutt, anyway. Who can say for sure? Rafael Stone is infamously opaque. His tightly managed, unusually small front office is shadowy. Fans […]

Today In NHL History - Wideman's Shootout Miss

On February 2nd in 2006, St. Louis Blues defenseman Dennis Wideman famously flubbed a shootout attempt against Chicago Blackhawks rookie goalie Corey Crawford, awkwardly falling before managing a shot on net. The shootout miss remains a favorite among NHL hockey bloopers. The Blues eventually beat the Blackhawks that night by a score of 6-5. That's today in NHL history.

Today In NHL History - LA Kings Clock Stoppage

On February 1st in 2012, Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty scored a game winning powerplay goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets with 0.4 seconds remaining in the third period. A closer look confirmed the Staples Center game clocked stopped for a full second moments before the goal was scored. Absent the stoppage, the match would have been tied 2-2 upon completion of regulation time and

Kings Dangling Asset To Make Another Upgrade

The Los Angeles Kings chose to go for it when they executed the deal to acquire Artemi Panarin and ink him to a new contract. Unfortunately, now Kevin Fiala seems to have suffered an injury that will keep him out a while, but that shouldn't stop the Kings from continuing forward and trying to get into the playoffs and win some rounds. David Pagnotta reminded us, "(The Kings) still have that second-round pick they got from the Habs for Phillip Danault. They basically told everybody they're will...

Is it ok for Baseball to be antiquated?

Some feathers were ruffled in the NBA this week by a couple of teams perceived to be tanking. That’s almost been an everpresent issue in professional sports with a draft. So that’s really not news but I did come across this quote by NBA Commissioner Adan Silver. “If teams are manipulating their performance in order […]

YouTube Gold: Jason Williams In Takeover Mode

It would be hard for people who never experienced Jason Williams’ run at Duke to understand just how good he was. He was built like a fire hydrant, short by basketball standards, really strong, and with a low center of gravity. He was also explosive as hell. Take this game against Kentucky in the 2001 […]
