In a Sunderland Women side that’s evolved consistently over the past several seasons, few figures embody continuity and steady progression quite like Louise Griffiths. Her story is one of gradual and deliberate development; of patience rewarded and of a young player who’s become a long‑standing presence despite still being in the early stages of her […]
Ben McKevitt says… The return of Diarra and Talbi is something that I’ve been looking forward to and something that’s brought forth the opportunity for some interesting discussions. I think Diarra might be the more difficult problem to solve as his ill-timed injury back in September gave Enzo Le Fée a prolonged stint in the […]
Sunderland returned to the Stadium of Light for the first time in a fortnight as they looked to end their successive spell without a win against a struggling Crystal Palace side who themselves hadn’t won in nine matches across all competitions. With news surrounding the departure of two of Palace’s most influential figures – their […]
This was Tony Mowbray’s Sunderland team at their very best. I recall this game like it was yesterday, and yet it is in fact three years since we dismantled Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough at the Stadium of Light. Littered with attacking talent in the shape of Ross Stewart, Jack Clarke, Patrick Roberts, and Amad Diallo, the […]
When the transfer window opened, the focus was very much on the futures of one home-grown promotion-winning hero and one who we acquired in League One, and who has developed hugely since. Dan Neil and Dennis Cirkin are both out of contract in the summer and it appears likely that Neil will depart. Cirkin has […]
Guess who is back? Jason has returned from Africa with tales of gorilla sightings and tea farming. But for his first episode back, the DBR Podcast doesn’t even mention the word “basketball” because the guys are all about the lawsuit Duke has filed to keep Darian Mensah from fleeing via the transfer portal. Luckily, in […]
The future schedules are starting to be filled. Illinois announced Wednesday that it added a home game against Delaware to the 2027 schedule. The first-ever meeting with the Blue Hens will be Sept. 11, 2027 at Memorial Stadium. The other two non-conference showdowns in 2027 will be against Eastern Illinois (Aug. 28) and Missouri (TBA […]

After a huge win over the Golden Knights on Monday to break their losing streak, the Flyers continued on to the next stop on their road trip, heading to Utah to face off against the Mammoth and hopefully keep their positive momentum rolling. And while this was something that worked initially for them, lapses and lack of attention to detail quickly allowed this game to get away from them, and instead the Flyers were stuck with a heartbreaker of a loss in overtime to cap this one off.
The B...
The Gonzaga Bulldogs women’s (14-6, 6-1 WCC) only chance of making the NCAA Tournament will come by winning the West Coast Conference Tournament in Las Vegas. To set themselves up for success in January, a victory in Thursday’s pivotal matchup against the Oregon State Beavers (14-6, 6-1 WCC) helps them get closer to achieving their […]
Well, that sucked. While the power play has been an issue for this team for a while, with multiple different coaches struggling to find a combination that works consistently on a team that’s struggled to find finishing talent, it still seems like something’s got to change with this current coaching staff. 1-for-7 against the very […]
Some games stay with you not because everything went according to plan, but because nothing did—and someone unexpected stepped into the moment anyway. Notre Dame’s 2002 trip to East Lansing was one of those games. The Irish arrived undefeated, carrying the weight of recent frustration against Michigan State and knowing how thin the margin for […]
As the home stand begins to wrap-up, the Colorado Avalanche hosted the Anaheim Ducks at Ball Arena. Much like the previous meeting in November, it was a hard-fought game but goals were tough to come by. Both Scott Wedgewood and Lucas Dostal put on a show but the Ducks got the 2-1 win in a […]
Pregame Kris Letang can’t go in this game due to an upper-body injury so go ahead and just don’t look at this blueline group tonight. First period Pittsburgh gets the first power play, Ryan Shea is out there with all the big guns. He looks nervous and loses the puck over his stick twice for […]
After escaping on Monday with a two-point win over the Hawks, the Milwaukee Bucks couldn’t build momentum and lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder. It’s the fourth straight loss for the Bucks against defending NBA champions. Giannis led the way for the Bucks with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while seldom-used guard Cole Anthony had […]
In the student body’s return to the Kennel in Spokane for the first time since Dec. 7, the No. 8 Gonzaga Bulldogs (20-1, 8-0 WCC) played it safe and sidelined graduate forward Graham Ike for the second straight game. He was seen in a boot on his right ankle on the bench once again. It […]
Well options are beginning to dwindle for the Braves to add another impact player this offseason. They have a stated desire to add to their starting rotation and Framber Valdez is still out there on the market (though would cost a draft pick to sign), but the market has been moving for the last couple […]
FanGraphs | Ben Clemens: By now I’m sure you know that Cody Bellinger is staying in the Bronx, with a cool five-year, $162.5 million deal. The reunion with the Yankees felt near-inevitable with, with such a glaring hole in the club’s construction and Bellinger unable to get someone to stretch his deal out to six […]
Before we start with the preview, I want to thank Holly and Xiane for stepping in and handling the game previews while I was celebrating my brother’s marriage. As always, I’m worried that you guys liked them way more than me and will try to get rid of me. For now, you’re still stuck with […]
The bright lights of ESPN proved too much for the Charlotte Hornets as they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Summary The Hornets looked a little overhyped by the moment on ESPN. They fell behind 8-0 after four straight bad possessions to start the game. LaMelo came off the bench shortly after, but it didn’t […]

Washington State got down big early, but almost came back in San Diego against the Toreros, eventually falling 95-92. This was the Cougs fourth straight losses, falling five games below .500 for the second time this season, with an overall record of 8-13. WSU came out sluggish and disinterred. Four minutes in, the Cougs had […]
Despite being dominant on the pitch and on the statsheet, Chelsea were approaching the final ten minutes of the match against Pafos FC last night without anything to show for our efforts. The prior 80 minutes or so had elapsed almost entirely as an attack-versus-defense exercise, with the Blues having nearly all of the ball, […]
Jada Williams scored a career high 44 points, got her groove back and Iowa State (15-5, 3-5 Big 12) snapped their five game losing skid with a dominant 93-68 victory over Cincinnati (7-13, 2-6 Big 12) Wednesday night at Hilton Coliseum. The junior from Kansas City, Mo., shot 68.2 percent from the field including six 3-point baskets. […]
