At long last, the Wisconsin Badgers have finally returned to the winning column in the NCAA Men’s Hockey Tournament with a 5-1 win over Dartmouth in the regional semifinal. It marks the first tournament win for Wisconsin since their 2010 Frozen Four win over RIT and the first tournament win for Mike Hastings at the […]
After Friday’s practice, head coach Craig Berube discussed Bo Groulx rejoining the Marlies, Dakota Joshua and Matias Maccelli’s strong play of late, and Easton Cowan’s development throughout the season. What was the message for Bo Groulx after he was sent down due to the waiver rules (nine games played) and his AHL playoff eligibility? Berube: […]
The post Craig Berube on Bo Groulx returning to the Marlies due to waiver status & the AHL playoffs: “He wanted to go down and help them… It is a ...
I do not at all enjoy making this kind of case, but it is one that needs to be made. Last night, Evgenii Dadonov played his 19th game of the season in the place of the injured Arseny Gritsyuk. Why is this such a problem? Per Sheldon Keefe, Gritsyuk is considered week-to-week. That means that, […]
On the day of the trade deadline, so many people expected the Philadelphia Flyers to be at least a little busy. And they might have been behind the scenes, but the deals that were actually completed were fairly ordinary — sending Bobby Brink back home to Minnesota and getting a more long-term project in defenseman David Jiricek, was certainly the highest-profile move the Flyers made.
But one little transaction that at the time was seen as unnecessary, has been maybe the best addition the ...
The Edmonton Oilers signed a European defenceman for next season on Friday morning, perhaps signalling another wave of free agent signings in early spring. The team announced they have agreed to terms with Tomáš Cibulka on a two-year entry-level contract beginning in the 2026-27 season. After playing junior hockey in Canada, he’s spent the last…
The Minnesota Golden Gophers will try and keep their NCAA Tournament run going against a familiar foe on Friday night in Sacramento, California. The #4 seeded Gophers will face off against the #1 seeded UCLA Bruins who they lost two back in January at Williams Arena. But much can change in over tow months of […]
An optional skate before heading to Colorado.
The Jets are searching for a long-term solution at quarterback. While it seems unlikely that they will select a signal caller second overall at this point, the team is doing its homework on quarterback prospects who could be available later on. One of those prospects is Ty Simpson out of Alabama. Many analysts have Simpson […]
The San Jose Sharks pushed the St. Louis Blues to overtime, but could not manage to get the final goal to seal the win. With less than three seconds remaining on the clock, the Sharks hung Alex Nedeljkovic out to dry and allowed Dylan Holloway to retrieve a puck alone, drive the net and put one over Nedeljkovic’s shoulder for the game-winner. Nedeljkovic got as big as he could in the net and hugged the post as well as he could; it was just an excellent shot by Holloway.

A look back at a remarkable timeline of events since the changing of the guard.
The Penguins have had their struggles this season with the shootout, though the worm has turned in the past week with two straight victories in the game deciding gimmick. The problem has been two-fold in that their goalies can’t keep the puck out of the net (opponents are scoring a dreadful 54.2% this season) and […]
He'll head to the Marlies.
At the bank this morning the teller was talking about movies and asked if I’d seen Sinners. When I said I had, she asked what I thought of it. For better or worse, our expectations not only shape our realities, they often become them. I haven’t met anyone who’s seen Sinners and not enjoyed it; […]
No. 10 Penn State is set for another NCAA Tournament run after last year’s trip to the Frozen Four. The Nittany Lions will take on No. 6 Minnesota-Duluth in the Albany Regional Semifinal tonight. Penn State has made the regional final in three of its four previous trips to the NCAA Tournament. The winner of […]
It’s not quite a Friday news dump, but it might as well be one. In his latest attempt to thwart tanking, NBA commissioner Adam Silver leaked a few new rules he plans to implement to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Here are lots of words: Like everything else the NBA does — see: the current CBA, All-Star […]
The Jets prospect also appears to be up with the big club.
Defenseman Erik Karlsson is getting most of the attention right now for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and deservedly so given the way he is playing. He is not only playing the best hockey he has ever played as a member of the Penguins, he is playing some of the best hockey that he has ever played […]
After Morgan Barron was put in concussion protocol after the game last night it looks like Parker Ford is up with the big club.
If losing is the goal, why not learn something too? The Rangers’ lineup decisions still aren’t adding up.
The Minnesota Wild’s newest bruisers did more than just drop the gloves in Tampa; they spilled blood and sent a message that nobody will push this Wild team around.
Early against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Michael McCarron answered a simmering, playoff-style tone by squaring up with Corey Perry,...
The majority of the remaining games for the Montreal Canadiens are against playoff, or playoff-hopeful teams, and Thursday night was no different. To finish their three-game home stand before hitting the road, they hosted the Columbus Blue Jackets, who have been major risers in the Metropolitan division of late. Once again overcoming a lethargic start to the game, the Habs took a very close 2-1 victory, allowing them to head off for their road trip on a high note.
A third period marker fr...
The Oilers completed a sweep of their two-game road trip on Thursday, taking down the Golden Knights 4-3 in overtime. Following a commanding win over the Mammoth in Utah earlier this week, Edmonton handed Vegas its fifth loss in six games and moved two points clear of a potential first-round opponent in the Pacific Division…
Hope springs eternal and spring training, and for Rangers fans, there’s a degree of optimism about the 2026 Texas Rangers heading into the season. In the latest Rangers Reacts, we asked how many wins you are predicting for the Texas Rangers in 2026: The most votes were received for 86-88 wins, and almost three-quarters of […]
Did you catch another subtle sign of spring from the last few days? The NHL standings page added an “If Playoffs Started Today” link at the top of the page. And it doesn’t just go to a page that says “… it would be way too early, calm down”. That’s because we’re almost there. There are just three weeks left in the NHL season, and while that’s plenty of time for teams to shift around the standings, it’s close enough to the playoffs that we can start thinking ahead to potential matchups. And as ...
