The NBA isn’t truly back until a Lakers opponent crashes out over free throws and, boy, are we so back. On Sunday, Austin Reaves poured in a career-high 51 points to lead the shorthanded Lakers past the Kings in Sacramento. It was a remarkable performance from Reaves, who only continues to improve every year in […]

The Philadelphia Flyers have made their decision. After a handful of games into the regular season and not a whole lot of minutes to hand out to a top prospect, the Flyers have sent Jett Luchanko back to the OHL where he will lace up for the Guelph Storm for the remainder of his season.
Daily Faceoff’s Anthony Di Marco was the first to report it, but as Flyers practice started Monday morning and Luchanko was not on the ice, it became obvious that he’s been sent back. It was then confirmed...

On Sunday night, the Blackhawks lost a game to the Los Angeles Kings. Early in the third period, forward Ilya Mikheyev put his speed on display while killing a penalty. He was in the process of creating a potential scoring chance — skating 1-on-3, I might add — when he got tripped. Mikheyev went into the boards hard behind the LA net and left the game. He did not return.

When the Edmonton Oilers aren’t winning, it can feel like the sky is falling. Their 4-4-2 record isn’t ideal after ten games, but it’s far from disastrous. At this point, it almost feels like we should adjust our expectations and accept that the Oilers might start the season slowly. We haven’t seen the best of…

It’s hard to say if the San Jose Sharks as a team have figured out how to win close games, but there’s one player on the Sharks who has definitely figured it out – Macklin Celebrini. It’s because of Celebrini that the Sharks beat the Minnesota Wild 6-5 in overtime last night and finished the four-game road trip with a .500 record.
The 19-year-old forward put together another multi-point game, saving his most important point for the very end of the night. Celebrini sprinted onto the ice af...

The New York Rangers are likely going to trade Brennan Othmann this year. He is a 22-year-old former first-round pick by the Rangers with just 26 games of NHL experience. He also didn't make the team out of training camp and has only been alright in the AHL. But the Rangers just called him up and slotted him into the third line after one assist in four games for the Hartford Wolf Pack. That move seems like much more of a showcase rather than a deserving call-up, as interest has risen for the R...

The Carolina Hurricanes are in a very unique spot that teams are rarely in. They are a true Stanley Cup contender, but have a lot of cap space to work with and make at least one big addition this season. The team has made a run at a high-end player each of the past two seasons and acquired one: first Jake Guentzel and then Mikko Rantanen last season. In the offseason, the Hurricanes went after Nikolaj Ehlers and landed him, but they still have over $8 million in cap space to utilize this seaso...
