Did Diamondbacks Bat Well With RISP?
Inspiration. Many fans have expressed their unhappiness when the Diamondbacks failed to score with runners in scoring position. In May after 32 games, my batting perspective was that the Diamondbacks batted below league average with RISP. “While the Diamondbacks’ batting ranked high with men on first base and no runners on base, they batted below […]
Snake Bytes, 9/22: So You’re Saying There’s a Chance
Diamondbacks News What are the Diamondbacks’ narrow paths to the postseason? by Alex Weiner [Arizona Sports] The Phillies are 8-10 in September, sinking back into the race for the third NL Wild Card spot as opposed to the NL East crown. In order for the D-backs to catch Philadelphia, one of the following would have […]
Pave Ruth
A gut punching series loss at the hands of the Miami Marlins not only had the Diamondbacks lose more ground in the NL Wild Card race to the 3 teams ahead of them, it also seemed to take all the hopium that remained in our systems and replace it with either copium or just straight […]
Series Preview # 51 : Diamondbacks @ Rockies
The Wild Card Race. My final prediction in the preseason was that the Diamondbacks would win 85.1 games. With 82 wins, the Diamondbacks could exceed my prediction, which would give me joy. I’d rather be wrong with the Diamondbacks heading to the playoffs. The Obvious. The Diamondbacks odds of being the third NL Wild Card […]
The 2026 Arizona Diamondbacks have (just!) surpassed pre-season expectations
With just six games to go, the Diamondbacks have a record of 82-74. While not technically eliminated from post-season contention yet, their playoff hopes would require a spectacular confluence of events in the first half of the week, probably followed by a sweep of the Padres in San Diego next weekend. Obviously, that’s disappointing. But […]
Arizona Diamondbacks News, 9/21: Nolan clips Yankees
Recaps [AZ Central] Diamondbacks live to fight another day with comeback win over Yankees – With a 2-0 count against Yankees lefty Brent Headrick, Arenado was a smidge in front of a fastball and pulled it barely foul, the ball sailing just a few feet to the left of the foul pole. He didn’t miss […]

Diamondbacks 5, New York 3: That Was Just Silly!
Brandon Pfaadt was taking the mound for the Diamondbacks in the second game of this increasingly crucial series against the New York Yankees. He and the Snakes were going up against Cam Schlittler, the presumptive American League Cy Young Award winner for this season. We got utterly hosed last night by the Yankees last night, […]

Snake Bytes 9/19: About as Expected
Diamondbacks News Diamondbacks Crushed By YankeesFans had to be somewhat hopeful with Eduardo Rodriguez taking the mound for Arizona Friday night. Alas, it was not meant to be. The veteran lefty was slapped around and the Diamondbacks were soundly beaten as they continue to try and stave off elimination. Lovullo Admits Team Probably Needs to […]
Diamondbacks 2, Yankees 9: Drinking to forget
Record: 80-74. Pace: 84-78. Change on 2025: +3. Is it too late to bring Angry Orchard on as an official SnakePit sponsor? In sharp contrast to last Friday night cider-cap, where we blasted the Rangers 9-1, tonight was an exercise in Charles Bukowski-esque cirrhosis. By the time the first inning was over, the sky had […]

Series Preview #50: NY Yankees vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
The New York Yankees come into Chase Field today for a three game series against the Dbacks. Last season, at Yankee Stadium, the Diamondbacks took the series 2 games to 1. The last time the Yankees visited Chase Field, in 2024, the Yankees took the 3 game set. The Yankees lead the alltime series 18-13. […]
Diamondbacks lose further ground on off day
Diamondbacks News (San Diego Union-Tribune) Padres rout Rockies, add to lead in playoff race The Padres came down from the mountains with the margin they need after winning on Thursday by a large margin. With a 9-2 victory over the Rockies, the Padres increased their lead in the race for the final National League playoff […]
Sleeping With The Fishes
The final few weeks of the baseball season usually sees fans and the teams they root for in 2 boats, 1 boat was sunk weeks if not months ago and has everyone looking forward to the future and what they can possibly get excited about in the offseason, the other boat has holes in it […]
The myth of the Diamondbacks September ‘meltdown’
The myth Now, a heavily upvoted shitpost from the Diamondbacks subreddit, and a Tweet by one of the most toxic members of fandom may not seem worth bothering about. And they probably are not. But it does reflect a general feeling that September is the cruelest month for Arizona fans. It is true that this […]

Mt. Frustration and Misery: the sequel
I’m fairly convinced that baseball fans are a special breed. There aren’t that many sports fans that can watch their team lose in heartbreaking fashion and then show up less than 24 hours later to support the team. It’s just too bad those special fans weren’t rewarded with a better result or better play. Instead, […]

Pain and Misery: Dbacks 2, Marlins 4
The Dbacks had a real opportunity tonight to ride the momentum of the late heroics from last night as well as pick up a game on the Padres and the Cubs, yet the offense sputtered again in fantastic fashion. Michael Soroka pitched well giving the team 5 IP allowing only 1 ER while striking out […]

Positive Impacts on Next Season
Inspiration. This season, many Diamondbacks were injured. Some of them performed very well. Next season, assuming they avoid injury, these high performers will play in more games. By playing more games, they will make the team better, perhaps pushing the team into solid playoff contention. Which of these players will make the most impact from […]
