We have two spring games today, so we get two GameThreads in one. That is our reward for making it to the end of February. Both games have some players I’d like to watch. More of the regulars are in the Phillies game. And we can watch Dylan Cease pitch in that one. Jose Berrios […]
For those of us who grew up watching the NBA on NBC in the 90’s, Tuesday’s broadcast for the Philadelphia 76ers’ home game against San Antonio will be a shot of nostalgia straight to the heart. NBC announced they are doing a ‘Throwback Tuesday’ telecast to recreate the experience of a 1995-96 broadcast. Just when […]
We’ve reached the finals of the “Last Man In” free agent tournament! I took the last free agent signed before the season for the last 16 years and let the readers decide which was the best. And let’s face it, it was always going to come down to these two. 1.Cliff Lee, 2011 Accolades: Two […]
With a 3 PM start, you’re getting the rare “Preview/Public Skate” combo! Hold onto this post, it may be worth money someday. Prior to today’s game, here are the basics: I say “3ish” for the start time, as these ABC national games always seem to kind of just start whenever they want. 3:01, 3:12, 3:99…you […]
Teams on the Rams’ 2026 schedule include the winners of the last six non-Rams Super Bowl champions: Chiefs, Eagles, and Seahawks. The AFC team in that group, the Kansas City Chiefs, would like redeem themselves for a poor 2025 season and get back to the Super Bowl next season but first they might have to […]
Eagles Question of the Day: Rank these outcomes in order of most likely to least likely: 1) Sean Mannion is a head coach in 2027, 2) Sean Mannion is fired during or after the 2026 season, 3) Sean Mannion returns as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator in 2027. Head over to The Feed and weigh in […]
Today is the last day where all players will be in camp before many depart for the WBC and prepare for the tournament. That means we’re about to see a lot of minor league pitching taking the mound, which could lead to some interesting scores in the upcoming weeks. On to the links. Phillies news: […]
With the trade deadline looming, and all the rampant speculation that emerges in the days leading up to it, may we present another little interesting tidbit. Perhaps it’s nothing more than a coach and a player he coached last season catching up on life and family, but according to Vancouver Canucks insider and sports radio host Rick Dhaliwal, Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet and Canucks center Elias Pettersson had a rather lengthy discussion during the Olympics.
Tocchet, who was one of Team...
Looking at the numbers and what they say about the potential offense for the Philadelphia Flyers. Are they bad or is the process just not there?
The Philadelphia Flyers aren’t projected to be a team that will be very busy before the trade deadline next Friday — aside from potentially trading veteran defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen — but according to a recent report, there are teams sniffing around some players as long-term fits for their problems.
One of the main talking points surrounding absolute any trade rumor or trade chatter involving the Flyers is that this team just has so many wingers — too many wingers to even put on the t...
When I get older, losing my bat speed/many seasons from now/will you still call me among the best/putting up a .900 OPS? Those lyrics to the Beatles’ When I’m Sixty Four—very slightly modified from the original— must be ringing in Bryce Harper’s ears right now. Entering his age-33 season, he is no longer young. He’s […]

The Eagles have always been really impressive with how they’ve managed the roster and the salary cap, and all the special loop holes they use in order to both pay their players well and stay under the cap. In the midst of the NFL Combine, the league informed teams that the salary cap will be […]
Here are the lineups for the split squad game you can watch. For the Phillies: For the Marlins: And, if you’re interested, here is who is on the road. Let’s talk about it.
Eagles Question of the Day: Would you ideally rather the Eagles 1) re-sign Jaelan Phillips or 2) add a new edge rusher via free agency or trade? Head over to The Feed and weigh in with your answer and explanation! Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links … 2026 NFL free agency: Projecting […]
The Flyers ended last season with an .879 team save percentage. This was nearly 10 points below the San Jose Sharks — a team who was openly tanking — for the worst team save percentage in the NHL. It’s comfortably the worst mark since the turn of the century, though this year’s Ottawa Senators (.873) are giving it a real run. The front office then came to the logical conclusion that the roster simply can’t be evaluated correctly if they’re spending their time fishing the puck out of their own ...
Vincent Trocheck survived, Igor Shesterkin did everything he could, and the Rangers still lost—because of course they did.
The Philadelphia Flyers are approaching this trade deadline from a unique angle. While most other teams who are several points out of a playoff spot, are gearing up to sell off their pending free agents or possibly move on from some core pieces, the Flyers don’t really have much of that. No bounty of veterans who they can get a heaping pile of draft picks for to help their rebuild, it’s just going to largely be status quo.
That is except one specific player.
Rasmus Ristolainen is the...
The NL East could have several strong teams this year. The Phillies appear to be in win-now mode. The Mets have made major changes. The Braves should recover from a down year in 2025. Even the Marlins could make some noise. The Nationals? Well, they are here. Atlanta Braves Key departures: Jarred Kelenic, Marcell Ozuna, […]
Making any kind of conclusion this early into Spring Training is foolhardy. There’s not much that occurs before the calendar even flips to March that can be used to glean insight on how a player will perform once the games begin to count. But that doesn’t mean there can’t be something that catches your eye […]
Christian Parker has been hard at work since taking over as the Cowboys defensive coordinator, finalizing his staff just earlier this week. Now, he’s moving onto the next stage: reshaping the defensive roster. Thursday brought a report that Dallas is expected to pursue Eagles free agent linebacker Nakobe Dean, but head coach Brian Schottenheimer also […]
Flyers general manager Danny Briere finds himself somewhat in no man's land heading into the trade deadline. The club isn't good enough to make the playoffs, but not quite bad enough to bottom out.
Spring training is underway. The weather in Philadelphia hasn’t caught up, but no matter. Spring is coming. Onto the links. Phillies News Daniel Robert could’ve chosen to go elsewhere. He chose Philly. Zack Wheeler isn’t back yet, but he’s getting closer. ($) Andrew Painter’s Spring Training debut is this Sunday night. MLB news Buster Olney […]
*Oooooh baby, we love a big Michkov game around here, and the Flyers marched up to the train station and delivered one. RECAP !
*Travis Konecny, who has seemed to be having a real bad time, emotionally, this season, had accurately diagnosed the Flyers’ problems. It’s good that they can see it from the inside, too. [ BSH ]
*The fine folks over at the Inky had a sit down with defense prospect Oliver Bonk about a whole mess of things, and it’s a solid read. Would be cool if we got to se...
The Flyers closed out their pair of back-to-back road games with a trip up to New York to face off against a struggling Rangers team. Coming off of a disappointing loss to the Capitals in last night’s return to action, the Flyers were eager to regroup and find a more positive result to close out the trip. And while it wasn’t the smoothest of complete showings for them, they were able to gut this one out and come away with a big win in overtime.
The basics
