Radko Gudas Intends to Play Against Leafs Despite Walking Boot

The Toronto Maple Leafs are facing the Anaheim Ducks on Monday night. And you know that this team, which has shown some fight and gumption in the games AFTER Gudas chopped down Auston Matthews with his dirty hit, would love to get a crack at him for some revenge.  But Gudas was in a walking boot after Thursday's Ducks game following an awkward fall against the boards. He didn't play in Anaheim's game on Saturday. That would give him an 'out' from having to face the music against the Leafs...

Will new front office hire be Rams’ secret weapon?

The Los Angeles Rams are hiring a former Senior Bowl director as a personnel department consultant who will work closely with assistant GM John McKay. The Rams hope that over 30 years of experience with scouting players will have made Phil Savage their secret weapon. Savage, 60, started his career with the Browns as a […]

Dodgers notes: Will Smith, Freddie Freeman, Tyler Glasnow

Saturday was quite an unforgettable birthday for Will Smith. Not only did his two daughters throw out the first pitch and not only was Saturday Smith’s bobblehead commemorating his go-ahead home run from Game 7 last year, but he also drilled a go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to mark […]

Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks game III chat

Somewhere in the multiverse, maybe it would’ve been Eduardo Rodríguez and not Tyler Glasnow who would’ve joined the Dodgers via trade a few years ago, but alas, that’s not the case here. Glasnow and Rodríguez go toe-to-toe as the Dodgers and Diamondbacks square off in Los Angeles. FRIDAY GAME INFO

Dodgers on Deck: Monday, March 30 vs. Guardians

After the always-odd scheduled Sunday off day, the Dodgers are back at on the homestand by hosting the Cleveland Guardians on Monday night at Dodger Stadium. Roki Sasaki makes the start for the Dodgers after a terrible spring training in a still-unrealized search for command. The Dodgers have stood behind Sasaki during his struggles, and […]

RHP Cristian Javier will make his first start of the season for the Astros opposite RHP Reid Detmets and the Angels. Weekend Musings: Which sports team is winning Houston’s next title if not the Houston Texans?

Sports championships. A measuring stick for civic pride, and, in theory, the goal for any pro sports organization (words from the owners of the LA Angels notwithstanding). One could argue that sporting competition has replaced the old wars between city-states as a way to show the superiority of one city/state over another. Granted, some of […]

Tyler Glasnow’s season debut and a minor bullpen test

Searching the whole of the National League, one will not find a team utilizing a starting pitcher at or near the caliber of Tyler Glasnow this Saturday. Scheduling and other outside factors led to some rotations—including the Dodgers—not necessarily starting the season in descending order of skill set, but the point is valid all the […]

Triple-A Oklahoma City drops season opener

The Dodgers minor league season officially started on Friday night, with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets losing to the Albuquerque Isotopes 3-1 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. Offense was at a premium on Friday, with the Comets’ only run coming after Hyeseong Kim led off the game with a single. An errant pickoff […]

Pre-Scout: Can the Oilers avoid the mousetrap and hunt the Ducks?

I want to believe the Edmonton Oilers this time. I really do.  But there is a California-sized steel trap hovering above this afternoon’s matchup against the Anaheim Ducks.  The Oilers close out an overtime victory against the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday, take all four possible points on the road this week, setting up a matchup…

Dodgers notes: Charley Steiner, Shohei Ohtani, Andy Pages

LOS ANGELES — Charley Steiner returned to the Dodgers broadcast booth on Thursday, calling the first three innings of the opening day game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on radio. Steiner has battled health issues in recent years, including multiple myeloma and a back injury that made it difficult to walk. His workload for this season […]
