It has been a few days. Sometimes that helps. The Dallas Cowboys lost to the Detroit Lions four days ago and for perspective since then a lifetime has happened for some college football fanbases with the College Football Playoff being revealed (sorry Notre Dame fans). Maybe you enjoyed the weekend off from the Cowboys by […]
Barcelona finished the weekend four points clear in the La Liga standings thanks to Real Madrid’s 2-0 home defeat to Celta Vigo, but Barça’s coach was not watching it happen live. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Hansi Flick was asked if he saw Los Blancos lose and the boost it gives Barça in […]
It finally happened. In his fifth game with the Seattle Seahawks, Rashid Shaheed had a sizable impact on the game from start to finish. He was active in the passing game, he continues to have an effect on the run game, and then of course the play that everyone will remember. Coming out of halftime, […]
It’s another week of the Mountain West Recruiting Roundup. We have made it through early signing day and all 12 Mountain West teams have added talent to their roster. All of their signing classes can be found here. Following Signing Day, recruiting is taking a big pause, with one lone offer since Wednesday. Now that […]
The New Jersey Devils are sinking fast. As of this writing, they’ve lost five straight games with no end in sight. Their fifth loss in a row, a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Boston Bruins, was especially embarrassing. You could argue that the Devils were the better team in that game, but it’s […]

The New Orleans Saints came away with their third win of the season after a messy 24-20 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the pouring rain. The Saints showed plenty of fight in getting their second win under rookie quarterback Tyler Shough, and there were plenty of positives on the day. Up: QB Tyler […]
After a brief interlude last week where someone besides a UNC big man was awarded Tar Heel Blog Player of the Game honors, we return to the status quo in the wake of UNC’s impressive 81-61 win over Georgetown on Sunday night. Somehow, I doubt too many UNC fans are disappointed. Veesaar and freshman Caleb […]
Tough loss for the Chicago Bears yesterday (9-4) against the Green Bay Packers, but the Bears will need to put it behind them and get ready for the Cleveland Browns (3-10) on Sunday, December 14. Chicago’s comeback in Lambeau fell short, with the Packers winning 28 to 21, and with the rematch set in two […]
Mike and Dan enjoy being proven wrong by the Islanders, who won three of their tough games this week before losing to the Panthers on Sunday afternoon. Last week, things were not looking good. The Islanders had squandered much of their homestand on losses and had a run of games against recent Stanley Cup champions […]
Well, that was one hell of a coaching search, wasn’t it? After 54 days, Penn State finally secured its new head football coach, signing former Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell to an eight-year deal. I think all of our thoughts about the hire are different before the Sitake Debacle and after the Sitake Debacle, […]
And just like that, it finally happened. No, the Kansas City Chiefs are not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, but after suffering heartbreak in the 20-10 loss to the Houston Texans on “Sunday Night Football,” the Chiefs’ dynastic reign over the AFC feels very much at its end. And while I’m sure there are NFL […]
Exciting news, folks… It is time for the LSB Offseason Community Prospect Rankings! As we do every year, twice a year — once midseason and once offseason — we are voting on who we think is the top prospect in the Rangers farm system right now. If the voting is close, we have a runoff. […]

The Dallas Cowboys will play a football game on a Sunday for the first time in a while, and when they do they will host the Minnesota Vikings. The game is on Sunday night. It will mark the latest moment that Dallas has commanded the spotlight as they played consecutive games on Monday Night Football […]
VESTAL, N.Y. — Le Moyne’s rivalry with Binghamton isn’t exactly organic. It wasn’t based upon years and years of hard-fought battles. Instead, it was announced with a press release. “Binghamton and Le Moyne will start a new tradition with the creation of the ‘Battle for the Interstate’ rivalry between the two I-81 schools that are […]
The first significant move by the D-backs dropped this morning. Jeff Passan and Jesse Rogers were first to report that the Arizona Diamondbacks have filled one of the holes in their rotation by signing Michael Soroka to a one-year deal. It’s worth $7.5 million, but there are incentives which could potentially add another $2 million […]
In what might be termed “shocking” news, the Pirates – yes, the actual, real life Pittsburgh Pirates – have made an offer to Kyle Schwarber this offseason to come play for them. No word yet on what the offer was, but it being $100 million in gold doubloons should not be ruled out. This shouldn’t […]

The New England Patriots are entering Week 15 in a comfortable position in the AFC East. Not only will they secure the division crown with a win, they also have already beaten the Buffalo Bills earlier this season to get a decisive edge over their rivals. And yet, they are listed as underdogs heading into […]
The Buffalo Bills looked dead in the water, trailing Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals 28-18 halfway through the fourth quarter on a snowy Sunday afternoon at Highmark Stadium. The Bills seemed poised to suffer another demoralizing loss, seal their fate as runners-up in the AFC East and potentially fall out of the playoff picture […]
Will the Orioles actually sign a difference-making starting pitcher this offseason? I’ll believe this is going to happen when I see it happen. They do at least seem to be staying active in checking around on many of the remaining names seen as being near the top end of the market this winter. The Baltimore […]
The Buffalo Sabres are still at the bottom of the standings and are last in the Eastern Conference. The roster and coaching have changed so much during their long playoff drought, but this time it needs to be management. With or without a change, there are some players that the Sabres have to move on from one way or another for different reasons by next season. Jordan Greenway The Sabres aren't getting much from Jordan Greenway and choose to play him on the top line, which is more questionable...
Michael Soroka, we hardly knew ye.
Acquired by the Cubs at the Trade Deadline and then injured immediately thereafter, Soroka didn’t get much of a chance to make an impression on us. Still, from what I saw of the stuff, it was really easy to dream. And really easy to want to see the Cubs take a flier on bringing back such a live arm, with the flexibility to pitch out of the rotation or the bullpen.
But it’s not happening, as Soroka, who is still only 28, is signing another one-year d...
