Cade Cavalli and Brady House were the Washington Nationals best players this spring

With the Grapefruit League all wrapped up, I wanted to discuss a pair of the Nats biggest stars this spring. Brady House and Cade Cavalli are entering key seasons in their pro career. Both are starting their first full season as a big leaguer. This spring, both of them looked ready to roll. I want […]

Must Read: Blackhawks Prospect Roman Kantserov on Playing Center, Signing NHL Deal, More

Since we’re on a good run with Blackhawks prospect content right now, let’s stay with the future of the Chicago Blackhawks. Blackhawks prospect Roman Kantserov did an interview with Daria Tuboltseva at R.com about his season, an NHL future and moving to center. It’s a good, deep interview with a lot to take away. A couple comments that stood out to me. The first quote that got my attention was what he said about the Blackhawks still actively recruiting him to sign: “To be fair...

40 in 40: Julio Rodríguez is the Edgar

Nine years ago, there’d been Julio Rodríguez’s before. Each year, dozens of teenagers consummate handshake deals often made when they were middle schoolers, making them millionaires in theory, if not in actuality. From Venezuela to Taiwan, Brazil to Cuba, but perhaps most of all in the Dominican Republic, their signing is a celebration. Nine years […]

Falcons set to interview Matt Ryan for new president of football role

As a first round draft pick in 2008, Matt Ryan become one of the greatest Atlanta Falcons ever. He’s the sole league MVP in team history, its all-time leading passer in every category that counts, and went to the playoffs far more frequently than any other quarterback the team has had. He’s not a lock […]

It “Seems Inevitable” That the Mets Will Land One of the Top Remaining Free Agent Starting Pitchers

Over at ESPN, Buster Olney and Jesse Rogers shared their perspectives on what’s happening right now behind the scenes with the MLB offseason. There’s plenty in there to peruse, including some notes on Alex Bregman that Michael will be discussing shortly. I wanted to call out something on the pitching side, because it’s felt this way for a while, and Olney is specifically giving it voice : “Which other free agent pitchers are coming up most in your recent conversations? Olney: Suare...

New Podcast Alert, Playoff Week Injury Watch, Illinois State Football Shocker, and Other Bears Bullets

How are you preparing for a third Bears-Packers showdown in the span of 34 days? Because Chicago and Green Bay are playing on a short week, the first injury report of the week will drop at some point on Tuesday. Subsequent injury report updates will follow on Wednesday and Thursday. Save for cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson starting the week in concussion protocol, I feel as if the Bears exited their Week 18 loss against the Detroit Lions relatively unscathed. But we’ll see what the inju...

Decisions will have to be made when healthy players return

The Tampa Bay Lightning have ascended to the top of the Eastern Conference on the back of a solid offense and a surprisingly competent defense considering it’s comprised of three players that, if the season had played out as expected, would have been freezing in Syracuse instead of enjoying the sun and fun of Florida. Charle-Edouard D’Astous (19:07), Declan Carlile (14:09), and Max Crozier (15:30) are logging big minutes due to the injuries suffered earlier in the season by some blueline stapl...

Winnipeg Jets Have Some Prospects To Dangle As Trade Bait

The Winnipeg Jets have gone from the best team in the NHL last season to the worst this season. A big part of that is because of the lack of scoring outside of four players (the top line and Josh Morrissey). Something has to be done as this is a team that is built to compete right now, not in the future. There haven't been any trades yet, but that is where the Jets are headed. Darren Dreger said, "(Cheveldayoff) has assets, Brad Lambert's a nice player, Ville Heinola, those are pieces he'd con...

Blackhawks Re-Branding Practice Rink, Set to Open Expansion Soon

If you’ve driven to a Blackhawks game over the past couple seasons, you’ve undoubtedly noticed the construction off Damen. If you’ve been to a Hawks practice at Fifth Third Arena, you’ve driven past the ongoing project. On Tuesday morning, the Blackhawks announced some significant updates to their practice facility. The Blackhawks announced the rebranding of Fifth Third Arena to  Blackhawks Ice Center,  effective in late January 2026, when the new space opens to the public. As a...

U.S. Lecce v. A.S.Roma: Lineups & Game Thread

Roma roll into the Via del Mare today under a cloud of frustration and attrition. After a sloppy 1-0 loss to Atalanta where the Giallorossi controlled the ball but lacked punch in the final third, Gasperini’s men now face a Lecce side trying to scratch their way out of the relegation battle. While Roma’s recent […]

Everton January transfers “more unlikely than likely”

Everton’s thin squad has been stretched to close to breaking point with injuries and AFCON, but manager David Moyes called for patience and at the same time indicated that there is a possibility that no big changes will be made either during the January transfer window. The Toffees have been without star defender Jarrad Branthwaite […]

Michigan State CB Aydan West to transfer to Minnesota

Michigan State cornerback Aydan West has committed to transferring to Minnesota. He recorded 19 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass break-up as a true freshman this season. West has three years of eligibility remaining. West saw 400 defensive snaps this year and should be an immediate factor at the cornerback position, where […]
