Haggerty: Picture gaining clarity on Fraser Minten extension

The 22-year-old center had 17 goals and 35 points in his first full NHL season, played all 82 games, and pushed up into reps as the No. 1 center and a power-play guy later in the season after proving himself as a young 200-foot center with some real maturity to his game.

Bedard: Patriots Practice Report 07.31.26 - Maye, offense sharp as Brown goes deep

A day after the offense was kind of a mess, especially in the run game, the Patriots were much sharper in the second padded practice. While there was one midfield team session that allowed the passing offense more room to breathe — and resulted in Drake Maye hitting AJ Brown for a deep touchdown on a double move against Christian Gonzalez — much of the practice was spent in the red zone working on first-down plays.

Bedard: Patriots Camp Report 07.30.26 - Offensive line hit and miss as pads go on

Things did not go as well for the first two offensive line units in the first team session in pads, as the interior line struggled. Drake Maye and Jared Wilson had a fumbled snap (second of camp) in the wet conditions that Rhamondre Stevenson picked up. This was the sequencing during a very run-focused period: Maye-stuff, scramble, stuff, completion, stuff, sack. DeVito: sack, sack, stuff, stuff, TD pass.

Haggerty: New era for Providence with Whitfield hiring?

In a move that was expected pretty much since the job became open, the Bruins named former Providence Bruins captain Trent Whitfield as the 14th head coach of the AHL farm club replacing Ryan Mougenel after he accepted an assistant spot on the Vancouver Canucks coaching staff.

Can the Celtics actually trade for Stephen Curry?

As the depths of the offseason slowly engulf the NBA world, these are the types of conversations to expect. Complete speculation spiraling into a whirlwind of social-media rumors and unfounded high hopes. That is what has led to the Stephen Curry-to-the-Boston Celtics rumors.

Bedard: Patriots Practice Report 07.28.26 - Boutte stars again, Campbell showing improvement, Jacas' draft medicals

The shell pads went on today ahead of an off day, so things ramped up a little bit more. Kayshon Boutte had the play of the day for the third straight real practice, a deep touchdown down the right side of the field from Drake Maye over Kevin Byard. Boutte had another touchdown, but it was whistled dead mid-play by Mike Vrabel. Boutte caught four passes today.
