Payton Tolle strikes out 14 as Red Sox shellack Athletics, 13-1, for ninth straight win

The Red Sox and Athletics have spent the past month and a half heading in completely opposite directions, and Friday night at Fenway Park was a pretty good representation of where both teams currently stand.Boston continued its remarkable run with a 13-1 shellacking of the Athletics, extending its winning streak to nine games behind a career night from Payton Tolle and another offensive outburst.

Haggerty: The NHL's best of what's left out there

Conversely, DeVito and the second-team offense were successful on 4 of 5 drives and put two touchdowns in a drive twice.

Giardi: Temperature rising, but Patriots' culture prevailing

“It's definitely heating up a little bit more, but I think it's been kind of a lot of back and forth throughout training camp,” Kevin Byard said post-practice. “Vrabes (Mike Vrabel) is telling when the offense scores, to go celebrate, (and) we get pissed off…

Red Sox keep rolling, sweep Dodgers ahead of trade deadline

Boston marched into Dodger Stadium and swept the defending World Series champions, capping it off with an 8-4 victory Sunday night to improve to 60-51. The win extended the club’s road dominance to 15 victories in its last 16 games and pushed Boston to 31-8 over its last 39 contests

NHL Notes: Bruins readying 'runway' for young players

One of the really interesting highlights from new Providence Bruins head coach Trent Whitfield’s press conference this week with the media was the distinct impression that the Bruins are aiming to make room for some of their young players ready to graduate from the AHL level.
