The Chicago Blackhawks erased a two-goal deficit after the first to earn a point, but ultimately fell 3-2 in a shootout to the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.
The Islanders opened the scoring less than three minutes into the game. After forcing a turnover, Simon Holmstrom dropped a centering pass to Calum Ritchie, who snapped a wrister past Spencer Knight to give New York an early 1-0 lead.

The New York Islanders picked up a two goal lead early, only to let it slip away from them in the second period. It’s becoming a bit of a bad habit lately that the team just stops playing with a lead, and letting teams like the Blackhawks sans Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar get back […]

So, the Blackhawks came out of the Christmas break with a thrilling win in Dallas and a dull thud at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins. That’s kinda the way things have gone this season, isn’t it?
The good news for tonight is Nick Foligno is healthy and in the lineup and Ilya Mikheyev also returns from his absence to be with his family. We’re getting closer to a full Blackhawks lineup. The Blackhawks held only an optional morning skate today, so these are the new lines we saw at practi...

The Chicago Blackhawks close out the 2025 calendar year on home ice Tuesday night, hosting the New York Islanders as they look to finish the year on a stronger note.
The Islanders come into this one sitting third in the Metropolitan Division by points percentage (.590), a spot that looks solid on paper but hardly comfortable in practice thanks to a crowded playoff picture. The Florida Panthers and Buffalo Sabres are right on their heels — the latter of which is on a nine-game winning stea...

The Blackhawks have some really hot prospects all over the world putting on a show and big numbers. And, after two hat tricks in the CHL over the weekend, performances in the KHL and at the World Junior Championship had my attention on Monday.
Kantserov Continues KHL Dominance
Blackhawks prospect Roman Kantserov scored his KHL-leading 25th and 26th goals of the season on Monday. He added two assists; his four points move him into second in the KHL in that regard now as well. As a Bla...

We haven't heard his name much at all on the rumor mill this year, but with the Chicago Blackhawks ' recent tumble to the bottom of the standings, Tyler Bertuzzi is now starting to make the rounds. Insider Elliotte Friedman suggested on The Fan Hockey Show on Monday that the Hawks could look to solidify themselves in the running for a top draft pick in 2026, by trading off a high-producing veteran. Chicago has lost six of their seven games since Connor Bedard went down to injury (and the...

Even though the Blackhawks played back-to-back days coming out of the Christmas break, they still practices on Monday. And… there was a lot going on.
Some good news right out of the gate: Connor Bedard was on the ice before the rest of his teammates. He did not shoot the puck, but was skating and doing some puck handling stuff. Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill said there is no change to Bedard’s timeline; he’ll still be evaluated after the calendar flips to 2026. But he was on the ice ...

With three nights off last week, we didn’t have as many games as usual this week. That means that our rankings won’t move all that much from last time. And more importantly, it means fewer opportunities to learn anything new. That’s bad news for me, because there are a handful of teams where I need all the information I can get, because I just can’t figure them out. I’m not clueless about absolutely everyone. I know that the Avalanche are good, and that the Blackhawks are bad, and that all of ...

The Pittsburgh Penguins did their part to salvage the Pittsburgh sports weekend by not only beating the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night, but by also outscoring the local football team. Last night’s game got out of reach by the end of the second period. I was encouraged to see the Blackhawks sending their kid line of Oliver Moore, Ryan Greene and Nick Lardis over the boards frequently in the third period to get more experience.
In the third period, Moore skated 5:22. Greene skated 5:37. And Lardis skated 5:50. By the end of the night, Lardis led the Blackhawks with six shot attempts (three on net) and was also credited with three hits in 16:03. Moore put two shots on net...
