Trevor Lewis officially announced his retirement from the NHL, closing out a 17-season career that took him from a first-round pick in 2006 to a two-time Stanley Cup champion.
The 39-year-old Salt Lake City native posted a message on social media writing on what the journey meant to him.
"As a kid growing up in Utah, I could have never imagined this journey," Lewis wrote. "Playing over 1,000 games and winning two Stanley Cups. Those milestones aren't just numbers to me, they represent year...
After taking a brief respite from batting while pitching last week at home, two days after getting hit by a pitch in his right shoulder, Shohei Ohtani was back to double duty on Wednesday night against the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. He pitched six more scoreless innings to lead the National League with […]
Good morning, baseball fans! The San Francisco Giants are in the midst of a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers this week, with the final game being played later today. These posts are pre-written, so I don’t get to be as timely as I might like. But I wanted to touch on a moment […]
This season, outside of a couple hiccups, has gotten off to an excellent start for the D-Backs. After a three-game sweep at the hands of the Dodgers to open season, the team has reeled off a 13-7 record and lost consecutive games just once to the major league leading Atlanta Braves. But these last two […]
On Tuesday, we talked about Cainings. The San Francisco Giants introduced Los Angeles Dodgers ace and international superstar Yoshinobu Yamamoto to the concept, with the most common type of Caining in existence. Call it the Standard Caining. In the Standard Caining, a pitcher has a very good game, but their offense doesn’t do enough. Because […]
Take it from the captain himself: “It’s fine.” That should help alleviate the lumps in the throat for Edmonton Oilers fans worldwide after Connor McDavid appeared to have avoided a serious injury after a second-period scare in their 6-4 Game 2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. It happened when McDavid and defenceman Mattias Ekholm got…
The Edmonton Oilers were never going to go 16-0. On Wednesday evening, the Oilers and Anaheim Ducks played Game 2 of their first-round series, with the Oilers falling 6-4 thanks to a late Ducks goal to even up the series at one each. Let’s take a look at what went on in this one. For…
After scoring one run on Tuesday, the Dodgers were shut out for the first time this season on Wednesday, with the San Francisco Giants silencing them 3-0. The Dodgers once again had a two-out walk in the first inning against the Giants, this time with Tyler Mahle walking Will Smith. Freddie Freeman skied one to […]
Heading into the 2026 NFL Draft, we know Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead will have a few surprises up his sleeve for the 13th overall selection. Anticipation is high for LA’s earliest pick since 2016. The Rams are going “all in” again and fans are clamoring for an impact player that can contribute […]
When a team is shorthanded like the Lakers are, the only way to not only survive but thrive is for everyone who is available to step up. The Lakers have gotten that during this postseason from Marcus Smart. One of the ways he’s stepped up is as a vocal leader. As a 12-year veteran and […]
The Dodgers are looking to get back to .500 on the road trip, as they take on the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park on Wednesday. Shohei Ohtani makes his fourth start of the season against Tyler Mahle. WEDNESDAY GAME INFO
Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell pitched into the second inning in his first minor league rehab start for the Class-A Ontario Tower Buzzers on Wednesday night on the road against the San Jose Giants. Snell was pulled with nobody out in the second inning after throwing 32 pitches. He threw 16 pitches in each frame, and […]
The San Francisco Giants continue this three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight from Oracle Park. Taking the mound for the Giants will be right-hander Tyler Mahle, who enters tonight’s game with a 7.23 ERA, 7.00 FIP, with 21 strikeouts to 12 walks in 18.2 innings pitched. His last start was in the Giants’ […]
It’s been another wild week around here with the Oilers rollercoaster making another loop, and I’ve got a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never ready to recap it all. On today’s podcast, I discussed the Oilers’ Game 1 win over the Ducks, Jason Dickinson’s brilliant night, Kasperi Kapanen’s game-winner, and more. I kicked off…
The Dodgers finish up their road trip with one more game under the sun on Thursday afternoon against the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. Tyler Glasnow started this road trip last Friday by pitching seven innings at Coors Field, and allowed only one run. The right-hander has lasted at least six innings in each […]
Since Sean McVay took the Los Angeles Rams reins in 2017, the defensive side of the ball has employed a 3-4 base (back in the day we called it a 5-2 Okie), three down linemen and two standup edges in front of two linebackers and four in the secondary. L.A. started to move away from […]
The Los Angeles Rams are on the clock 13 picks from now, but the draft still doesn’t start until the Las Vegas Raiders select Fernando Mendoza on Thursday night. After months of speculation of what the Rams should do, and days of rumors about what the Rams will do, what are fans of the team […]
Playoff basketball demands a higher level of intensity. The stakes are raised, which means every possession matters more, every game can swing a series and the focus on physicality has to be elevated. If there’s a player on the Lakers who knows this and is capable of it better than most, it’s LeBron James. At […]
Blue Jays 3 at Angels 7 You didn’t really think they were going to get a sweep, right? The Jays were in tough against Jose Soriano, off to the kind of start that only a handful of pitchers have in the last century. And it was easy to see why he’s yet to allow more […]
Among Edmonton Oilers fans, it’s a time-honoured playoff tradition to chant the opposing goalie’s name. It’s all a ruse to get under his skin, create a mistake, or extra nerves. This year, the welcome-to-the-playoffs moment came with Anaheim Ducks netminder Lukáš Dostál, whose first name was chanted by the Oilers’ faithful at Rogers Place. But…
The Edmonton Oilers franchise is 19-1 when taking a 2-0 series lead, and they’ve never lost a series when they lead 2-0 on home ice. A victory tonight won’t guarantee they win the series, but it puts them in a great position. The all-time NHL record for teams who go up 2-0 at home is…
When Marcus Smart joined the Lakers, the hope was that he could remain healthy and become a defensive anchor for this team. After seasons with the Grizzlies and Wizards, he could come to Los Angeles and play better basketball at higher stakes. Well, he’s done all that and more for the Lakers. He’s been a […]
While the Edmonton Oilers will be without Adam Henrique for Game 2 of their first-round series against the Anaheim Ducks, the California club’s captain will be out of the lineup Wednesday night. Radko Gudas is expected to miss the game, and is set to be replaced by Drew Helleson, Oilersnation’s Jason Gregor reported. Gudas is banged…
Former Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur will be feeling the Arizona heat more than usual as his Cardinals try to right the ship in the 2026 NFL draft. The Cardinals and LaFleur will be under extreme pressure to nail the draft, or risk falling further behind their NFC West rivals. Arizona finished 3-14 […]
Game three of three with the Angels. When I went to watch games in Anaheim, I really enjoyed the stadium. It was the first ballpark I’d been to that basically had a shopping mall in it. I remember looking in the Oakley store at over priced sunglasses and one of the sales person said I […]
