The Minnesota Twins took two games in a hard-fought series with the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend. Each team’s offense battled its way to victory, combining to score 46 runs over three games. The Cardinals outscored the Twins 21-20 over three games, but Minnesota still took the series.
Luke Butkus has plenty of work ahead of him when the Green Bay Packers report for training camp. Green Bay’s offensive line didn’t play at the level expected in pass protection last season, producing the team’s worst pass-blocking performance in the past decade. That is not a standard this offense can afford to repeat.
Sam Darnold’s Super Bowl win will hover over the Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback competition between Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy, and long into the season. It’s only natural. Minnesota Timberwolves fans just watched Karl-Anthony Towns win an NBA championship after the Wolves traded him to the New York Knicks.
As has been the case during every homestand this season, Minnesota Twins GM Jeremy Zoll met with reporters before Friday night’s impeccable 9-8 comeback win over the St. Louis Cardinals to provide injury updates on 40-man players and top prospects. Walker Jenkins was the biggest name he provided an update on.
Locks NBA (1 Unit) NY Knicks @ San Antonio Spurs -2.5 First Quarter (+100; Odds via DraftKings): 7:30 PM CT on ABC Yes, it was the worst collapse in NBA Finals history, but at least it started well for San Antonio? I’m sure that’s little solace to the Spurs, but it’s a very consistent theme throughout this series and these playoffs, and I think they get out to another strong start tonight.
For Green Bay Packers rookie cornerback Marlon Jones Jr., reaching the NFL required overcoming far more than the usual football challenges. Following a breakout year at Eastern Washington in 2023, Jones entered the transfer portal and committed to Vanderbilt. However, his career suddenly took a frightening turn before he even made it to campus.
I feel like the last thing anyone wants to hear about is some sportswriter’s fantasy team, but let me start this by sharing a bit about my longtime league with friends from college. (I promise this comes around to the Minnesota Vikings in short order.) We’ve been doing this league for almost 10 years now, and about three years in we decided to spice things up by making it a dynasty league.
As Minnesota Timberwolves fans watched the New York Knicks take a 3-1 lead over the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals with an unbelievable 107-106 win, many felt a sense of pride for a certain player they have been connected to for over a decade. A player whom those fans had seen endure so much tragedy, so many deflating losses, and frequent damaging narratives.
The saying goes that speed kills, and for the Green Bay Packers’ group of wide receivers, it’s hard to find a time when that has ever been more true. Matt LaFleur typically prefers wide receivers with bigger frames to help with run blocking, among other things.
Garnering Cheryl Reeve’s trust is difficult. The soon-to-be most winningest coach in WNBA history doesn’t mess around when players make game-plan mistakes. Players who don’t fit into the offensive schematics and sets, miss key rotations and are positioned poorly defensively, or don’t play “Lynx Basketball” aren’t going to see much time on the court.
Every summer, it seems one of the biggest topics of discussion is how many players the Green Bay Packers will carry at a certain position. Will the Packers carry seven wide receivers? Can they afford to carry a third quarterback on the 53-man roster? However, as the 2026 season approaches, linebacker appears poised to receive more attention than usual.
This is a story about the Minnesota Vikings, but let me start with one of my many high school memories. One of the things I learned quickly was the excitement of a “Code Red.” When a fight broke out somewhere on campus, the office staff would jump on the intercom and scream those magic words to call for backup. While it was a solid plan, it usually backfired.
The New York Knicks aren’t a basketball juggernaut. They had 10-1 odds to win a title at the beginning of the season. New York won 53 games during the regular season, including the NBA Cup. They lost in the Eastern Conference Finals last year. James Dolan made a surprise coaching change. The players mostly remained the same.
The Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver group looks different than it has in the past handful of seasons. Brian Gutekunst drafted six wide receivers between 2022 and 2023 and added two more with premium draft capital in 2025. Coupled with heavy investments at tight end, the passing game had lots of hungry dawgs to feed.
Locks MLB (0.75 Unit) Miami Marlins/Pittsburgh Pirates Over 8.5 (+100; Odds via Caesars): 5:40 PM CT on MLB.TV Overs at PNC Park are starting to have to be an automatic play. The Pirates are 25-11 to the over at home with the highest plus/minus to the total in the league, buoyed of course by the Dodgers just being in town for 46 runs in 3 games.
The Minnesota Vikings’ rookie class has taken a backseat to the drama unfolding at the quarterback position, but a lot is riding on this group’s success. After years of poor drafts, the Vikings are hoping to buck that trend in 2026 — and they’ll need to. It’s expected that first-round pick Caleb Banks will carve out a starting role.
Merely bringing up Jordan Love‘s name in a quarterback hierarchy debate sparks some very differing opinions. Some are exaggerated, others rooted in bullheaded obstinance. Even the unbiased takes can vary severely. Jordan Love has emerged as a damn good quarterback, but there’s always room for improvement.
All eyes are on the quarterback competition between Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy. Still, that’s not the only competition Minnesota Vikings fans should be watching during minicamps and the preseason. Justin Jefferson is hands down the Minnesota Vikings’ WR1. However, after they signed Jauan Jennings, Jordan Addison now has some competition for the No. 2 receiver spot.
The Green Bay Packers had a busy offseason in their Wide Receiver Dept, despite not drafting one at all and adding no significant personnel at the position save for signing Skyy Moore, who is really a kick-return specialist. And it’s looking more and more like their future at wide receiver is set. They’ll have four WRs locked down through at least 2028 — and beyond, in some cases.
With mandatory minicamp underway at TCO Performance Center in Eagan, the Minnesota Vikings still have a few question marks on their roster going into 2026. New general manager Nolan Teasley is most likely looking to address these needs, and one of the biggest is edge-rusher depth. He should consider former Vikings defensive end Jihad Ward.
With the FIFA World Cup starting on Thursday, it feels like a good time to map out which national teams best mirror the Green Bay Packers under Matt LaFleur. The idea is to look at each season or phase through a different lens, blending style, identity, and perception rather than just results on the field. Without further delay, let’s get into the comparisons.
Locks MLB (0.5 Unit) Mitch Keller Over 5.5 Hits Allowed (-110; Odds via Fanduel): 5:40 PM CT on MLB.TV It’s been an up and down year for Keller, with some pretty drastic downs, and another could be coming here. The Dodgers will be fired up after blowing yesterday’s game like they were doing their best Spurs impression, and I think they’ll have an easy time of getting to Keller tonight.
The biggest tell that the Minnesota Vikings are holding a true quarterback competition is that Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy continue to split practice reps with the starters. Murray, 28, is the more accomplished quarterback. He went higher in the draft than McCarthy (first versus 10th), and has gone to two Pro Bowls.
There’s not much convincing needed to get Green Bay Packers fans to travel to opposing teams’ stadiums. Packer fans follow their team better than any other fanbase in the league. However, if you don’t have the time and/or resources to travel to several games and need help picking the best one to build a vacation around this season, then you’re in the right spot.
With the start of mandatory minicamp, edge rusher Lukas Van Ness is already making a splash. His name popped up frequently on Tuesday, and in the best ways. The fourth-year edge rusher, whose fifth-year option the Green Bay Packers picked up earlier this spring, was an impactful presence in team drills and one-on-ones.
