Labaron Philon Jr. can help the Sixers redeem the Jared McCain trade
In February, the Sixers traded Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder for what wound up being the No. 22 overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft and three future second-rounders. The deal was… not well received. To defend the controversial trade, then-team president Daryl Morey told reporters that McCain’s path in Philadelphia was “a […]
Why the Sixers got the steal of the draft in Labaron Philon Jr.
Labaron Philon Jr. is a Philadelphia 76er. Philon’s fall in the draft was a surprise to many as the Alabama product was projected to go much higher coming off a monster sophomore campaign. Philon was named a finalist for SEC Player of the Year, First Team All-SEC, and Third Team All-American. He led Alabama to […]
NBA Draft 2026 second round: Live updates and discussion thread
It’s time for night two of the 2026 NBA Draft. After 30 first-rounders were selected on Tuesday night, another 30 players will hear their names called in Wednesday’s second round. As of the time of publishing, the Philadelphia 76ers do not have a pick in the second round. The franchise made their lone pick last […]
No squinting required — Sixers know their roster needs work
No squinting required just yet. Mike Gansey has left his first imprint as president of basketball operations for the Philadelphia 76ers, selecting Alabama guard Labaron Philon Jr. at No. 22 overall in the 2026 draft. At least, as much of an imprint as he could. As someone who was hired just a few weeks before […]
In Mike Gansey’s first big moment, he didn’t blink
When you’re sitting at pick 22, so many things can happen. You brace for numerous scenarios, but ultimately, you’re hoping for the board to break your way. On Tuesday night, it broke quite nicely for new president of basketball operations Mike Gansey and the Sixers. They were able to select Alabama guard Labaron Philon, a […]
Labaron Philon Jr. believes ‘it’s destiny’ he was drafted by the Sixers
The Sixers have drafted another guard. With the 22nd pick in the 2026 NBA draft, they selected Labaron Philon Jr. out of Alabama. A two-year college player, Philon averaged 22.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in his sophomore year. He did so on 50.1%/39.9%/79.8% shooting splits on high volume. He will now […]
Will the Sixers get back into the second round of the NBA draft?
As his first big move as president of basketball operations for the Philadelphia 76ers, Mike Gansey selected Labaron Philon with the 22nd overall pick of the 2026 NBA draft. While getting another consensus draft faller a la Tyrese Maxey in 2020 is certainly cause for excitement, it’s possible the Sixers could be done for now. […]
NBA Draft 2026 first round: Live updates and discussion thread
The 2026 NBA Draft is finally upon us. On Tuesday night, the first round of the next NBA players will be selected. Thirty players will hear their names called then, with another 30 to be selected in Wednesday’s second round. As of the morning of the first round, the pick order looks like this. We […]
Sixers select Alabama guard Labaron Philon with the 22nd pick in the 2026 NBA Draft
In Mike Gansey’s first move as president of basketball operations, the Sixers took Alabama guard Labaron Philon with the 22nd pick in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft Tuesday. The franchise selecting a small guard with the biggest asset acquired in the Jared McCain trade is likely to receive groans, but Philon represents […]
My top 5 realistic targets for the Sixers at 22
The day has arrived. No more mock drafts and, soon enough, we’ll know exactly how Mike Gansey and the Sixers used the 22nd overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. I’ve changed my mind so much over the last few weeks, but now that the day is here, I have it narrowed down to five […]

Next up in this series is UConn’s Tarris Reed. Reed was a cornerstone of UConn’s 2026 Final Four run, […]
Is Henri Veesaar a candidate for the Sixers to move back and target?

Giannis heading to Miami a solid outcome for the Sixers
Late Monday night, the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade request saga finally came to an end, with the Milwaukee Bucks star taking his talents to South Beach. In a vacuum, I’m glad this is finally over so that we don’t have to hear any more reports about how Giannis wants to “do things the hard way” or […]
Will Rucker’s final 2026 NBA Draft Big Board
The day is finally upon us. The 2026 NBA Draft class, long projected for years to be one of the best of its generation, is finally here. I watched over 100 prospects in this year’s class. So, without further ado, here are my final prospect rankings. TIER 1 (Franchise Talent – All NBA – MVP-Caliber […]
Evaluating Mike Gansey’s draft history in Cleveland
The 2026 NBA Draft happens begins Tuesday night. The Sixers are likely going to make their only pick in this year’s draft at 22nd overall. It’s an important pick for the franchise as it was the primary return in the highly-scrutinized Jared McCain trade from this past February. With Mike Gansey taking over as the team’s […]
The Knicks (and the parity era) have shown there’s no one right way to build
A new NBA champion being crowned is always followed with the tradition of the other 29 teams asking themselves “what can we learn from this?” or “what does it take for us to reach that mountain?” The thorough ass-kicking the Sixers received from the eventual champion New York Knicks to send them home in the […]
Sixers final mock draft round-up

Why the Sixers didn’t get involved in the Aaron Wiggins trade
At this year’s trade deadline, the Sixers made a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder that we don’t need to rehash for the sake of everyone’s mental health. Their reported trade target from that deal is now on the move. In mid-May, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice reported that Thunder guard Aaron Wiggins was the “primary […]

How Mike Gansey might change the Sixers’ NBA draft approach
Less than one week away from the 2026 NBA draft, we still don’t know much about the Sixers’ plans. We’re starting to get word of some prospects whom the Sixers have brought in or will bring in for a predraft workout. We can make guesses based on big boards and their biggest needs, but the […]
Tyrese Maxey’s All-NBA leap kept the Sixers afloat
Tyrese Maxey’s 2025-26 campaign started very similar to his year from a season prior. He was tasked with an incredible minutes load in order to lead whatever starting lineup was able to make it onto the court for the Sixers that night. Unlike the previous season, he was ready for the burden. Coming out firing, […]

What is the new normal for Joel Embiid?
In evaluating Joel Embiid’s 2025-26 season, let’s refer back to his comments following the Sixers’ second-round sweep at the hands of the soon-to-be-champion New York Knicks: “For me, this was a success. I came into this year not knowing where I was gonna be, how long I was gonna play, if I was even gonna […]
