Astros fizzle, White Sox romp, 12-3

When Jeremy Peña led off the game with a homer off Erick Fedde, it seemed to portend a rough day for the White Sox. It portended wrong. It only took two Sox batters to turn things around. Sam Antonacci led off the bottom of the first with a walk, and then Munetaka Murakami started his […]

Brewers DFA Former All-Star After Just 2 Appearances

The Milwaukee Brewers were looking to bolster their pitching staff for the stretch run 11 days ago when they executed a trade with the Houston Astros for nine-year veteran Lance McCullers. But after watching him pitch for them just twice, the Brew Crew have bid adieu to him, designating him for assignment. It's the first DFA of McCullers' career.  Brewers have DFA'd Lance McCullers He made two relief appearances for Milwaukee, allowing two earned runs in 4.2 innings while striking out fiv...

White Sox 12, Astros 3: Munetaka Murakami turns heads on bobblehead day

All it took was a bobblehead to get Munetaka Murakami back on track. Murakami snapped a couple of home run droughts with a two-run blast in the first inning en route to a two-homer, five-RBI day as the White Sox staved off a sweep of the Astros. Paired with a Cleveland loss earlier in the day, the White Sox also extended their AL Central lead to a season-high 2½ games. A Look Back at James Click’s 2021 Trade Deadline

James Click awoke on July 27, 2021, with a serious problem on his hands. The Astros were 61-40, one game behind the Red Sox for the American League’s best record. They had the league’s best offense and the American League’s best rotation. The bullpen, however, could best be described as shaky. The night before, Click […]

The White Sox have been outscored 13-1 in their last 13 innings, but they’re hoping to have a big turnaround on a date that is 13 x 2. It will be Erick Fedde trying to avoid the downfall of predecessors Davis Martin and Sean Burke, both of whom cruised through five innings against the Astros […]

It’s a quick change given that McCullers was just acquired from the Astros on […]

Bought and Sold

Like we said - why not both.  Bats for arms.  Mead for Early In losing Mead they lose a power bat whose prospect history suggests could keep this up.  The major league results are spottier but he’s young enough you can see a team still buying into scouting In gaining Early the get a rotation worthy arm who’s probably more a 3/4 but a 3/4 with lots of control left.  A spot that doesn’t have to be filled with cash or FA gambles.  That is if he can stay healthy. He ...

Astros 4, White Sox 1: Second-straight suspect sixth sinks Sox

For five scoreless innings at Rate Field on Saturday night, the game was a question of which hard-throwing right-hander would crack first: Sean Burke or Hunter Brown? Instead, the second-straight galling top of the sixth inning against the Astros reminded that baseball is a team sport, and even a version of Burke that can reel off 10 strikeout in six innings of work is vulnerable without reliable defense. Or any run support. The post Astros 4, White Sox 1: Second-straight suspect sixth sin...

Game Thread: Astros (51-54) at White Sox (54-48)

We’re just going to pretend like that one never happened, right? The Sox held the Astros scoreless in seven of the nine innings they played yesterday, and allowed just one in one of the others. We can leave it at that, I think. At the very least, the Sox have the advantage of sending their […]

Hard Conversations: Should the Astros Trade Jeremy Pena?

Sometimes the toughest conversations are the ones worth having. As much as Astros fans would rather focus on another postseason run, the reality is that Dana Brown and the front office have to think beyond this season. Every decision they make isn’t just about winning in 2026, it’s about positioning the organization to remain a […]

Astros 9, White Sox 5: Stunned in the sixth

Through five innings, the White Sox had everything going for them: Davis Martin with a 5-0 lead and a reasonable amount of pitches, and the Astros warming up a fourth pitcher after Spencer Arrighetti left with a foot nerve issue after one ineffective inning. The next time they came to the plate, they somehow trailed by three. The post Astros 9, White Sox 5: Stunned in the sixth appeared first on Sox Machine .

3 Trade Landing Spots For Mets' Clay Holmes

The New York Mets are sellers, and Clay Holmes has become one of the most intriguing arms on the market. Per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, while the possibility remains that the Mets and Holmes agree to an extension, there is a significantly greater likelihood of a trade, according to people familiar with the situation. That is despite Holmes telling The Athletic's Will Sammon and Tim Britton that he is "definitely open" to staying in New York. At 43-60 and 9.5 games out of a Wild Card spot, ...
