The Cubs have signed reliever Jacob Webb

Another right-handed reliever to add to the 2026 Cubs bullpen: Jacob Webb is 32 and was the 18th-round pick of the Braves in 2014 out of Tabor College in Kansas. He made his MLB debut for the Braves in 2019 and pitched three seasons for them, then spent 2022 in the Diamondbacks’ minor league system. […]

Patriots sign offensive lineman to 2-year contract extension

The New England Patriots have locked up another member of their 2026 free agency class. After already keeping cornerback Marcus Jones from the open market back in October, they have now also taken care of offensive lineman Ben Brown. Scheduled to enter restricted free agency next offseason, Brown and the Patriots reached an agreement on […]

Celtics comeback win sparked by two “really, really great” friends

BOSTON — On paper, Celtics forwards Baylor Scheierman and Hugo Gonzalez don’t have a ton in common. Scheierman is a 25-year-old from Nebraska; Gonzalez is a 19-year-old from Madrid. But the Celtics’ two most recent first-round draft picks have quickly formed a great friendship apparent to anyone who steps foot into the Celtics locker room […]

GAME PREVIEW: Heat back home to host visiting Toronto Raptors amid rough stretch

The Miami Heat are coming off a difficult three-game road trip in which they went 1-2. They have suffered back-to-back losses to the rival Boston Celtics and New York Knicks— without many answers in sight to snap out of this rough stretch. For tonight, they will be back home to host another Eastern Conference playoff […] The post GAME PREVIEW: Heat back home to host visiting Toronto Raptors amid rough stretch appeared first on Hot Hot Hoops - Miami HEAT NBA Blog .

Comments from the Other Side - Pacers 12/22/25

What a game by Joe Mazzulla and the Celtics.  The comment that said that they were spoiled by the starters playing like meh were right on.  The starters were not giving any effort on defense and were playing like they expected to win without any effort.  Kudos to Joe for benching them and kudos to the bench guys for bringing the effort and energy especially on defense.  Also to the starters for bringing it when they came back in.  My favorites are in bold.  ...

The Montgomery to Murakami Pipeline

Let’s take a moment and remember the Colson Montgomery of just nine months ago. His year started with a prospect report from FanGraphs in which the very first sentence was, “Montgomery is in a free fall.” It was more scathing than a Pitchfork review of Raffi’s “Bananaphone.” Things got worse when the season started.  Montgomery […]

OTM Open Thread 12/23: Christmas Eve Eve

Happy Tuesday, Red Sox Nation! We’ve passed the darkest day of the year, inched closer towards some time off for the holidays, and traded for Willson Contreras. Alex Bregman remains unsigned, and Craig Breslow refused to answer questions about luxury tax thresholds. That’s all I’ve got. Use this thread to talk about whatever you want. […]

The Decline Of The Three Pointer

When last season began, 3-pointers were all the rage, due in part to the Boston Celtics’ success liberally employing the shot to capture the 2024 NBA title. But styles change. The value of the three remains apparent, but not as a predominant offensive weapon. Boston again converted the most threes among the pros in 2025, […]

Patriots’ Keion White trade with 49ers gets updated after Week 16

When the New England Patriots traded defensive lineman Keion White to the San Francisco 49ers in late October, a pair of 2026 draft picks was involved: a sixth-rounder going back to the Patriots, and a seventh-rounder moving west alongside White. That seventh-round choice was conditional, though, and has now transferred back to New England. The […]

The St. Louis Cardinals Continued Bullpen Search

Chaim Bloom has made it a priority this offseason to strengthen the team’s pitching staff and depth as a primary goal. After trading veteran starting pitcher Sonny Gray to the Boston Red Sox before Thanksgiving and returning MLB-ready Richard Fitts and minor league upside starter Brandon Clarke, as well as the recent trade of First […]

10 Takeaways from the Celtics storming back against the Pacers

1. Starters lump of coal turned to diamonds At the 9:22 mark and the Celtics down 20, Mazzulla pulled all of the starters off the floor out of a timeout, seemingly sending a message due to the lack of effort. The bench unit of Anfernee Simons-Hugo Gonzalez-Sam Hauser-Baylor Scheierman-Luka Garza would come in and immediately […]

Celtics complete 20-point comeback, beat Pacers 103-95

On a night when Jaylen Brown scored 31 points, it was Hugo Gonzalez who shined bright for the Celtics, playing nearly the entire second half. His energy was such a key in Boston’s comeback after they looked flat for the first half and the beginning of the 2nd half. Jordan Walsh joined Jayson Tatum on […]

Patriots receivers flip the script against man coverage Sunday night

The New England Patriots were left with a bad taste in their mouths after their collapse against. the Buffalo Bills. That included a wide receiver group that struggled over the final two quarters. With the Bills playing more man coverage in the second half, New England’s pass catchers had difficulty breaking free for quarterback Drake […]
