Losing position coaches does NOT mean the sky is falling

The Miami Hurricanes are coming off of a College Football Playoff National Championship Game appearance in year four of the Mario Cristobal Era. This off-season has seen some change around college football but one consistency for Miami is that the head coach, offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator all return for another run at a 6th […]

Rayo Vallecano – Atlético de Madrid: A strange game awaits

Three days after securing an emotional, dominant win over FC Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals, Atlético de Madrid resume their inconsistent league campaign with a visit to Rayo Vallecano — who will “host” this fixture at Estadio Ontime Butarque instead of Estadio de Vallecas. The gap in LaLiga is […]

The Golden Puppets

When the broadcast rightsholders for the Milano-Cortina Olympics were announced, I don't think anyone was surprised to see the Canadian team of CBC, TSN, and Sportsnet banding together once again to cover the Canadian angle in Italy. NBC was announced as the US rightsholder for US broadcasts which carried on their effort to be the American Olympic network, but I'm not sure that anyone knew that NBC was going to employ the residents of Sesame Street as part of their coverage. With ongoing cover...

The 75th NBA All-Star Game tips off Sunday at 5 p.m. ET from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, where the Clippers play. You can watch it on NBC or stream it on Peacock. Pre-game coverage starts earlier in the day. John Tesh will perform “Roundball Rock” live at the event, and perhaps we’ve taken this […]

Breaking: Update on Kevin Fiala Confirms the Worst for LA Kings

Los Angeles Kings forward Kevin Fiala had surgery on Saturday morning after suffering a serious knee injury in Switzerland's game on Friday against Canada . It's official: his NHL season is over.  The incident occured in a collision with Canada's Tom Wilson, in which Fiala landed awkwardly. He had to be stretchered off the ice.  Nothing dirty about this collision, freak accident, unfortunate outcome. If someone other than Tom Wilson landed on Fiala's leg, there would be no disc...

Sweden secures 5-3 victory—but late Slovak strike could steal Group B

I can’t remember ever seeing a team pull their goalie with a two-goal lead, but that’s exactly what was required today between Sweden and Slovakia. Under the tie-breaker rules, Sweden needed at least a 3-goal victory to win the game and the tie-breaker over Slovakia. Doing so would have given Sweden a chance to win […]

Good morning everyone and happy Valentines Day! A quick reminder that if you’re in the Seattle area, Kate is hosting a Heated Rivalry watch party/trivia night today at Kate’s Pub in Wallingford (now known as The Rebel) at 5pm. If you don’t have any plans today, go join some friends to enjoy drinks and good […]

Kansas City Royals news: Should Seth Lugo throw more heaters?

Jaylon Thompson talks to Alec Marsh, who was placed on the 60-day Injured List, about his setbacks. Marsh dealt with right-shoulder tightness after the 2024 season. He worked to rehab from that injury but suffered setbacks along the way. Ultimately, Marsh missed the entire 2025 season while dealing with constant physical discomfort. “Just impossible,” Marsh […]

Is the Stienburg era drawing to a close?

Last season, hard-nosed forward Matt Stienburg’s stock was on the rise. In only his second full season as a professional, he received a call-up that every kid dreams of. He got the call to make his NHL debut with the Colorado Avalanche on October 16, 2024, after only playing two games with the Colorado Eagles […]

Storm Warning: Jayhawks flying north

That stretch you circled on the calendar back when the schedule was released?  It has arrived.  In the first leg of the toughest gauntlet of conference play I have seen for this basketball team, the Cyclones are taking on the hottest team in the Big 12, the Kansas Jayhawks. Kansas is currently playing as well […]
