21 Takes: It's high time Warren (really) soars

'I want the football. I always want the football.' That was Jaylen Warren. Only it wasn't spoken on this Sunday afternoon, when it could've been seen as convenient, after he and the Steelers ran all over the Bengals, 30-27, and after he alone accounted for 176 of the offense's 411 yards. Nope. It was a week ago up in Foxborough, Mass. Just him and me.

The Big Play: Harmon slams the door

The Steelers' defense didn't play a game they like to play. Joe Burrow racked up 282 yards against their zone coverage. The pass rush didn't get home enough, either. Final: Steelers 30, Bengals 27

Who: Steelers (1-1) vs. Bengals (2-0). What: NFL regular season, Week 3. When: 1:03 p.m. Where: Acrisure Stadium. Weather: 70 degrees, partly cloudy, 2 percent chance rain, 13-mph wind. TV: CBS (national).

With Dowdle out, Nichols in line for action

Rico Dowdle, unable to practice all week because of a toe injury, will be out for the Steelers this weekend against the Bengals. That puts a lot on Jaylen Warren, who's been splitting snaps with Dowdle, but it also creates an opportunity for others in the running back room.

Cherington expects he'll keep his job in 2027

Ben Cherington didn't come right out and say it, but he's operating as if he will return as the Pirates' general manager in 2027. He addressed that and more Saturday morning before a loss to the Tigers at Comerica Park.
