The Colorado Avalanche are seeking to bolster their lineup ahead of the Stanley Cup playoffs. According to one NHL Insider, the team would keep its eyes within the Western Conference as they seek to add forward Kiefer Sherwood from the San Jose Sharks. Sherwood was recently acquired from the Vancouver Canucks for AHL defenseman Cole Clayton and two 2nd-round picks (2026 & 2027).
The @Avalanche are poking around and “monitoring closely” the Sherwood situation in SAN Jose. ...
In a previous post, we looked at some logical choices the Sharks could have made to improve the defense without risking too much of the future. However, Macklin Celebrini’s breakout performance at the Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina seems to have sped up the team’s timeline, and it truly feels like a strike while the iron’s hot situation. Celebrini has put the Sharks on the radar of disgruntled players everywhere, and the players with term may be looking at San Jose with interest as the dead...
The kids aren’t waiting their turn in San Jose.
With the postseason race tightening and pressure mounting, the Sharks’ young core is beginning to look less like a rebuild in progress and more like a foundation ready to compete now. And at the center of it is Michael Misa: calm, confident, and proving that the future in San Jose may be arriving faster than anyone expected.
The San Jose Sharks emerged victorious on March 1 in overtime against the Winnipeg Jets for a 2-1 win in the mati...
Recap of the game.
The San Jose Sharks have started to slip in the standings. Despite a 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday afternoon, the Sharks are starting to slip in the standings. As of Sunday morning, they sit five points out of a playoff spot, losing five of their last six games. Earlier this season, when…
The Edmonton Oilers’ attempts to trade Andrew Mangiapane have failed, thus far, to find him a new home. And with the Oilers going 1-2 out of the Olympic break with disappointing losses to the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks, the team has taken the drastic measure of placing the disgruntled winger on waivers. Joining…
Fresh off a regulation win over the Edmonton Oilers , the San Jose Sharks are back on the ice and ready to welcome the Winnipeg Jets into town. The Jets are one of six teams that did not play yesterday and so the team is in town and well rested for today’s game. Winnipeg was in Anaheim on Friday and lost to the Ducks 5-4 in overtime. Connor Hellebuyck was in the net for the loss, his first game back since winning the gold medal for Team USA at the Olympics.
While not mathematically elimin...
The Winnipeg Jets began the post-Olympic break off by stumbling out of the starting blocks, as they let a 2 goal lead disappear in the 3rd period versus Anaheim. After rookie defenseman Elias Salomonsson scored his first NHL goal to put the True Northers up 3-1 early in the final frame, the hometown Ducks dominated play to eventually tie things up with 1:22 remaining. The Jets almost escaped overtime with the game deadlocked, but with 13 seconds still left on the scoreboard a puck slipped by C...
A look at the projected lineups and pre-game interviews.
One step forward, one step back. After an 8-1 win over the Kings in Los Angeles that felt like the team’s most complete effort of the season, the Edmonton Oilers followed it up Saturday with a 5-4 loss to a San Jose Sharks team that came in riding a five-game losing streak. Macklin Celebrini opened…
The San Jose Sharks put together a team effort to beat the Edmonton Oilers 5-4 today, and in doing so, the Sharks helped keep the team’s playoff hopes alive. While San Jose clearly has a lot of ground to make up after that five-game losing streak, the regulation win over a division rival and a team ahead of it in the standings certainly helps. Better yet for Sharks fans, the team achieved the win by committee, with five different players scoring goals and 12 different players registering point...
After beating the wheels off the L.A. Kings on Thursday night, the Edmonton Oilers wrapped up their California road trip with one last stop in San Jose to face the sliding Sharks. The Sharks came into the game on a healthy losing streak, and that meant an opportunity for the Oilers to keep building momentum…
It’s safe to say that the Edmonton Oilers aren’t playing their best hockey at the moment. On Saturday afternoon, the Oilers headed to Northern California to play the San Jose Sharks for the second time this season, falling 5-4 in another high-scoring game. Let’s take a look at what went on in this one. The…
The Edmonton Oilers wrap up their California road trip with a final stop in San Jose to face Macklin Celebrini and the sixth-place Sharks. I know I don’t have to tell anybody reading this how important these two points are, but it’s worth mentioning that the Oilers absolutely need to figure out a way to…
Following the Olympic break, the San Jose Sharks lost 4–1 to the Calgary Flames, a divisional opponent currently behind them in the standings. In a tight race to playoffs, these are the types of games San Jose needs to win, especially in regulation and within the division.
The Sharks outshot Calgary 35–29 and got a second-period goal from Tyler Toffoli, but they were unable to hold the tie heading into the third. Calgary scored three times in the final period to secure the win.

The San Jose Sharks beat a large number of interested teams to the punch in securing a trade for Kiefer Sherwood from the Vancouver Canucks back in January. But is Sherwood's stay in San Jose going to come to a close after just a handful of games? The bruising forward is a pending unrestricted free agent, and is looking for a huge raise. There's been talk about an ask in the neighborhood of a $5 million AAV for the NHL's single-season Hits record-holder. The Sharks certainly knew w...
The Flyers ended last season with an .879 team save percentage. This was nearly 10 points below the San Jose Sharks — a team who was openly tanking — for the worst team save percentage in the NHL. It’s comfortably the worst mark since the turn of the century, though this year’s Ottawa Senators (.873) are giving it a real run. The front office then came to the logical conclusion that the roster simply can’t be evaluated correctly if they’re spending their time fishing the puck out of their own ...
The San Jose Sharks have been poking around the New York Rangers as the March 6 trade deadline nears, and it sounds like their shopping list includes Braden Schneider. David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period has connected San Jose to Schneider, which fits a Sharks team trying to build forward without waiting years to fix its blue line, which is definitely their weakest spot.
Sharks interest in Braden Schneider is about roster fit
Schneider checks a lot of boxes for a team like San Jose: ...
Hi Fear the Fin family and welcome back from the Olympic break! If you’re like me and a bit disheartened by what you’ve seen on social media, nationally and around the league for the past few days AFTER the men’s hockey team won the gold medal, then take a minute to watch this interview with some of the gold medal winning women before all hell broke loose. It certainly made me fell better. If you’re not there for it, skip forward and we can talk Sharks hockey below.
The Sharks are ba...
It was clearly time for Jeff Skinner to find a new home. Watching from the press box for three weeks leading up to the break as a healthy scratch, the veteran forward mutually agreed with t he San Jose Sharks on a contract termination about a week ago. The 33-year-old was having a dreadful season, with just six goals and 13 points in 32 games played. But this is a guy with ten 20-goal seasons on his resume, and six 30-goal campaigns. There's some obvious potential upside, at a low ...
Macklin Celebrini's superstar performance at the just-concluded Olympic Games has brought a little more attention to t he San Jose Sharks. And while they have Celebrini, Will Smith, and others to get excited about up front, their blueline, overall, is nothing to write home about. In fact, as a group, they're ranked near the bottom of the league. They're 30th in the NHL in goals against per game. But at just five points out of a playoff spot, the Sharks should be looking to beef up their ...
Sidney Crosby is officially out for Canada’s semifinal matchup against Finland today. Crosby reportedly tested out his leg in a closed practice this morning in Italy, but was unable to play on it. Despite that, most reports share some level of optimism that Crosby is hopeful to come back for Sunday’s gold medal game if […]
On Monday, despite a lull in the National Hockey League, the San Jose Sharks announced they’re parting company with veteran winger Jeff Skinner. The team put him on unconditional waivers in order to terminate the contract he has with the club. If he clears waivers on Tuesday, then he becomes an unrestricted free agent and is eligible to sign with whoever he pleases. The question then would be if Skinner would be a fit for the Flyers down the stretch.
Skinner signed a one-year deal with Ed...
After a tumultuous 2024-25 season with the Edmonton Oilers, which saw him in and out of the lineup, Jeff Skinner signed last summer with the San Jose Sharks, hoping for a greater opportunity. That appeared to be the case early on in the season, but in mid-January, Skinner found himself a healthy scratch, missing each of…
