The Chicago Blackhawks erased a two-goal deficit after the first to earn a point, but ultimately fell 3-2 in a shootout to the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.
The Islanders opened the scoring less than three minutes into the game. After forcing a turnover, Simon Holmstrom dropped a centering pass to Calum Ritchie, who snapped a wrister past Spencer Knight to give New York an early 1-0 lead.

The New York Islanders picked up a two goal lead early, only to let it slip away from them in the second period. It’s becoming a bit of a bad habit lately that the team just stops playing with a lead, and letting teams like the Blackhawks sans Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar get back […]

Game Preview
So, the Blackhawks came out of the Christmas break with a thrilling win in Dallas and a dull thud at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins. That’s kinda the way things have gone this season, isn’t it?
The good news for tonight is Nick Foligno is healthy and in the lineup and Ilya Mikheyev also returns from his absence to be with his family. We’re getting closer to a full Blackhawks lineup. The Blackhawks held only an optional morning skate today, so these are the new lines we saw at practi...
The Chicago Blackhawks close out the 2025 calendar year on home ice Tuesday night, hosting the New York Islanders as they look to finish the year on a stronger note.
The Islanders come into this one sitting third in the Metropolitan Division by points percentage (.590), a spot that looks solid on paper but hardly comfortable in practice thanks to a crowded playoff picture. The Florida Panthers and Buffalo Sabres are right on their heels — the latter of which is on a nine-game winning stea...

The Islanders wake up still in second place in the Metro after the Capitals lost in regulation to Florida last night. They are in Chicago to try to rebound from the loss in Columbus and build some cushion in the ever-close Eastern standings — where Buffalo is now two points behind. After a promising but […]

Mike and Dan look back at a week that was great for the Islanders until it wasn’t, and an annoying week ahead. With wins over the Devils and Rangers on either side of the Christmas break, the Islanders gave their fans a great holiday. Whether it was a surprise game-winning goal from Adam Pelech or […]
Playing twice in less than 24 hours (great job, schedule makers), the Islanders had far from their best but nearly pulled out a point or two before falling late to the Blue Jackets in Columbus, 4-2. The Isles held a slim 2-1 lead till the final five minutes, when a fortunate deflection canceled several previous […]
Keifer Sherwood's days with the Vancouver Canucks are surely nearing an end. The pending unrestricted free agent has been linked to a number of different teams in trade rumors, including the Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins, NY Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens and others. But we now have a new contending team linked to the gritty, physical power forward, a team that has not previously been discussed as having him on the radar. According to veteran NHL analyst Jesse Granger in Th...
One minute in, game over—an early mistake and zero scoring punch defined another dull, frustrating Rangers performance.
The Islanders had a lot of developments coming out of the holiday break to shut out the Rangers again. Injury updates and a return, plus more Hogberg presence while Ilya Sorokin recovers. They’re back at it tonight in Columbus for a 5 p.m. start. Quick turnaround, hopefully not a letdown. Leave First Islanders Goal picks […]
The Wolf Pack struck five times on their way to a big win in the rivalry matchup.
Well, that was fun (and stressful!) Thanks to an early goal by Anders Lee, the New York Islanders maintained a lead essentially all game, despite some scary moments and frankly pretty sloppy play against the New York Rangers. Of course, holding on to that lead wouldn’t have been possible without incredible play by David Rittich, […]
Igor Shesterkin did everything he could, but familiar scoring issues doomed the Rangers as they were shut out—again—by the Islanders.

The Islanders and 25 other teams across the NHL return to action today and tonight (6 p.m. start for the Isles) as the league emerges from the holiday break, welcomed by a blanket of snow. Joined by friend Matt Strauss, we remember two modern Weird Islanders who felt like they were around more than they actually were; Parker Wotherspoon because of his many years in the AHL and Dmytro Timashov because of how he came to the Islanders. Parker Wotherspoon is not an exciting player. As a defensive defenseman, his […]
The Nashville Predators are headed for a fire sale this season and GM Barry Trotz is going to have to approach veteran Steven Stamkos on where he'd like his next chapter of his hockey career to be. The Preds are slowly creeping down the standings in the Western Conference, and Trotz is going to have no choice but to make a few moves. Stamkos started slow this year but has turned it on of late. He enters the Christmas break with 15 goals and 22 points in 36 games this season, and is playing 17:...
Here are your links for today: Devils Links A back-breaking, late third-period goal for the Islanders and another rough offensive night for the Devils led to a 2-1 New Jersey loss. This isn’t fun.
